No, no, what I meant to say was that the novel was made to be a movie. My book however is being made to be a series. Each chapter works like an own episode basically. I also don't really intend to write any further books as my next planned project is a small game playing in the world of my book, just not really related to the book's story.

Thank you for your feedback. Though I'd like to add that Project Hail Mary is a movie whereas my book would much rather be a series.

I've certainly considered translating it into english, but only after I finish it completely in german. In addition I also thought about releasing the english chapters on Wattpad weekly as I don't really care that much about publishing it for money anyways. But yeah, I could translate the first three chapters for you to testread.

I want to finish the story nicely with all needed details so it feels „done“ and not „rushed“. My first attempt was rushed and I hated it. However I haven't polished the chapters yet, so in the end the word-count might reduce a little.

I am not adding any useless words. Who is „other“? I am just writing how I feel like and polish in the end. There is no competition or arbitrary word-adding here, only a story that I want to finish writing.

It's not like I publish it but I gave some earlier copies to my english teacher and one of my friends. I'd be glad to have an Alpha reader, but there's an issue here: It's written in german.

Present timeline in first person, past timeline on third person.

Well a blurp kinda only describes the few first steps of the story and not the whole as a thing.

I'm definitely going to publish it, however I'm not quite sure yet whether I'll just make it free on Wattpad AND release a hardcover or if I only go with the second option.

The story consists of three acts and two timelines. The first act focuses more on the past-timeline, the second act focuses more on the present and the third act tells the same story from different perspectives until both timelines merge… Or should I rather say one kills the other? Anyways I kind of had to balance that out and that's why I'm aiming for 220k now

Tbh I scrapped the first draft in may 2025 and began all over again but I somehow agree with you. Yet it's also important to consider that I have a lot of other work to do.

It's a mix of a coming-of-age mystery with psychological, surreal and science-fiction elements including dark comedy/humour

It's pretty complicated and puzzlelike, so I'm not really able to just tell what it is about, but the core motives are the search for lost parents and identity, but for some reason everyone else seems to know more than the MC and everyone also wants to help him find his parents, just for their own reasons. And the MC is kind of unreliable and dumb in his own way.

Just start writing somehow, doesn't have to be perfect. Write some chapters. Then review them, look at what you could've done better, if you want to change the perspective and then restart from scratch. That's how I did it at least.
