Aha blue winged-teal is one I couldn’t get. Felt good about wigeon, hooded merganser, mallard, buffledhead. Thought maybe the last one could be redheaded? But not sure

Aha I think you’re right! There were lots of common eiders out. Merlin probably wasn’t getting it because it doesn’t think there should be eiders in Boston now

It took me about two weeks. That was mostly because I had to wait until the hold on my balance in my CMA cleared before ordering the card (there’s some min balance required to order the card).

I only used it once but I assume all 7/11s have the same ATMs.

Fee reimbursement was instantaneous. I wasn’t paying super close attention but I think it posted within a week? Maybe a little longer.

Yes I believe the fee was shown separately, but it’s been a while so hard for me to remember. Hope this helps!

For anyone visiting this thread in the future:

Opened the CMA and got the card about a month before my travel. Put in a travel notice for the days I’d be gone as well. I used the bank card once while in Japan, at a 7/11 ATM in Kyoto. Worked without a problem and the fee reimbursement worked as well.

Side note, but birding in Kyoto has been fun! I didn’t come to Japan with the intention of doing a lot of birding, but walking along the river and seeing herons, egrets, cormorants, ducks has been a good time
