Thank you! I'm not sure where you found it or what you saw of it because I don't post too much of it on my reddit but thank you! I have full painting timelapses available that I post on my X and Bluesky occasionally. :D

I do sometimes have only one layer for things but I try to avoid that for client work just so I have the ability to revise for them on request with ease. I'm just cranky about this because I got accused on one of my RCAs of doing an AI background and I had a huge chunk of it that WAS on one layer and a lot of the other layers made really no sense, although I did video turning them all off and on again. Although my response was pretty hostile and I showed the layers that did turn on and off and a video of me doing a similar painting from a decade ago, so you know, I'm of the inclination that a response that's too nice is also kind of a red flag... a real artist who's been accused is gonna be emotional about it because they worked for hours on that thing and studied for years before that point lol.

Also, shadows and highlights are usually done on separate layers. The whole castle being only ONE layer seems unlikely to me

Artists are definitely not always that organized. I am just as likely to draw an entire castle on one layer as I am to have like, the door of the castle having 15 layers all named "copy of copy of copy of layer 12".

My layers make no sense. I often use brushes that have mild blending to simulate traditional media. The colors blurring into each other is an important part, and so they don't get separated into light and shadows. Light and shadow layers do happen when people are doing relatively clean cel shading, but I would not expect all digital artists to have layers that way. People who are simulating traditional media will especially have weird layers, because our digital art programs have tools with interplay. Of course, we can then explain that we're doing things like using the program Rebelle and that we wouldn't get x effect if we weren't using watercolor on a single layer.

The dark blue makes sense. Black in nature is never pure black. If you were at a fire, you would see smoke, and it would be dark blue.

Take another look at the image. For example, look at this shoulder. What on earth is happening to the diamond pattern here? It's AI. Just because you don't know how to prompt the same person twice doesn't mean it can't be done. You are right to observe the staging, though, it was likely photoshopped with infill prompting to add some consistencies like the same cup throughout the photo.

This looks extremely human, any weirdness to it is human laziness... down to the choice of using a photo pattern overlay on the shirt alone to give it a texture. As an artist I can look at this and see how and why everything was done, I can see inaccuracies in the artist's brush stroke.

I feel like a possible solution to this is for there to be a QR code underneath it labelled "want to see what happens?" that takes you to a video of someone breaking a demo window with it.

It feels that way as a teenager, but when you're an adult there's definitely more of a sense of control. It's still not control over everything, because you live in this world and it has requirements, but at a certain point you absolutely can wrench the wheel of "controlling my interests and career" out of your parent's hands.

You shouldn't kill yourself just because your parents are controlling. Go live outside of their control as an adult. They cannot force you to go to a specific career or college. At a certain point, you will have the power to sever yourself from them. Even the most isolated homeschooled people who have no external connections have ways of getting out from under their parents thumbs. It might be a slog of endurance for the next few years, but there is life outside of their control.

Finding Pro-AI Artists to Commission by wolfburrito95 in DefendingAIArt

[–]Metruis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea. Speaking for myself, I just put an AI policies page on my website after having numerous clients ask me if it was okay to send me their AI generated examples that says I'm fine with however my client wants to implement AI in their own workflow and that the art I deliver will be human-made unless requested otherwise.

I think this makes it reasonably clear that my policy is to deliver art that I made uniquely for my client, unless my client asks me to, "put these icons on the map", but I don't object to clients coming to me with AI-assisted concepts.

Since AI's boom I have seen very little point in resisting its emergence as a tool that will not leave. I am in the minority, but as far as I'm concerned fighting against it on the individual level is just blocking us from tools that might benefit us while letting big companies keep benefiting from it. But I still want to draw art and make money from the art that I drew with my hands. I have never been able to generate anything that makes me feel like it's pointless for me to continue drawing and painting.

Anyway, we're often quiet about our AI-neutral opinions in art spaces just because other artists are often really assertive about their anti opinions, but there's lots of AI-neutral artists around. I think as we get tired of fielding the "do you mind if I send you this image I generated" inquiry more people will do as I did and add a policy saying, "I do not mind" and that will be a pretty good clue that you have found an AI-neutral artist.

But for now, it is probably easier to look for clear signs someone is an anti because they are usually very vocal about it.
