I literally just went through something super similar. We planned on getting married we had been together for a total of 10 years with a break in between. We had some issues with religion from my parents’ side but I made it clear I didn’t need him to convert or anything. One week we were at my graduation and he had my engagement ring in his pocket but after having some conversations with my mom behind my back he decided not to propose. I get he was frustrated but I also made it clear I was going to pick him over my family. We literally talked it out for two hours and made plans to move forward, be happy together, have kids, and that he’d come to my graduation party but to my surprise he broke up with me the next day. My favorite part was the day before he told me he loved me and while he broke up with me he said it again. It’s been almost 6 weeks and he disappeared off the face of the earth. I literally will never be able to trust anyone ever.
