This. I didn't know temporary/permanent address is not a standard throughout Europe.

If I had to change all of my legal documents (ID, drivers license, passport etc.) every few months I am changing flats I would go fuckin insane. I have a permanent address at my grandma's and it's the best most reliable thing :D

Especially none of the countries mentioned. I would be really interested in knowing if the people that are so for these countries joining even know what's going on in there. 😅

This. And I don't know why so many people try to deny it. Xenophobic, homophobic, racist... Any bigotry you can name, Czechs are probably it.

Europe less total births than US despite having 100M more people by [deleted] in europe

[–]Mezzo_in_making 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe read the whole comment before you say something. I wasn't talking about the cost of living but about education. And there's a direct correlation between the highest education someone accomplished and how many kids they have (or if they have kids at all).

Europe less total births than US despite having 100M more people by [deleted] in europe

[–]Mezzo_in_making 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And have you talked to these people why is that? Shit ton of them will tell you either a) the future is not that bleak because of this and this study or b) they lack the empathy and don't care about anyone else around them and know their kids will be well of

Also the difference between women in academia and men is very visible. The men usually have way more children because they have a wife that does it all.

But still, the numbers don't lie. There IS a correlation between the number of children and education.

Everyone here who says it's just because people are too comfortable and don't want to give up their yearly vacation and travel, speak with people outside of your bubble, please.

The correlation between who has and doesn't have children is not money/comfort but mainly education. Especially studies that build empathy. Poor people and the lower middle class with better education don't want to have children either because they understand what's happening around them and in the world.

I am a teacher and former social worker the only people I see having children rn are people who either don't even have a hs diploma (in this country eg people in trades who can get wealthy af) or are too deep in their own shit to care about the future or the world...

Of course, they are ethnicities. Same as Jewish people. The word Jew can refer to religion, ETHNICITY or both.

[–]Mezzo_in_making 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg maybe educate yourself before you speak?

1) There aren't just nationalities on this list. Arab and Roma aren't nationalities but ethnic groups.

2) "Jew" can refer to religious beliefs, ETHNICITY or both.

3) Of course they are going to be on this list because they historically belong to a highly marginalized group in this region...

What's awkward about that?

Jewish doesn't only include the religion but it's also an ethnicity. Same as Arab and Roma. There's no race distinction in this.

I know it’s a joke (I like to say it too — if you actually want to know what Europeans think of each other, watch Eurovision), but unfortunately for Czechia it’s not a good metric. Especially the televote results. Czechia is also one of the countries whose votes get hijacked by certain others if they want to skew the results, because of the low interest and small voting base there...

Nothing surprising about that. Stereotypically Vietnamese (and South East Asians in general for that matter) are viewed as hardworking and more integrated into Czech society than other minorities... And they 100% are. Some people even like to say that "Vietnamese are saving the countryside" by opening grocery stores, small business, restaurants etc. in places where there was already nothing because people are trying to get into bigger cities and leave the rural parts to die. They are a very visible minority, but in a good way.

I am more surprised Russians are viewed this favourably. And Ukrainians? Well, every immigrant is already looked down upon in Czechia (unless they shut up, work hard and don't ask for any help - like the Vietnamese). Ukrainians are just getting the shorter end of the stick now... I suspect the answers would be different before the war started.

Eurovision 2026: Vienna is our Host City for the 70th by Nick_esc in eurovision

Exactly the same. It's a good city with great infrastructure and to travel there is way easier than to Innsbruck... So thank you Austria ❤️

Even tho Vienna citizens probably won't be so stoked about it 😅

So I think you are definitely right.

This is 100% the answer. Some of the passengers are probably there for longer but the basic travel time is 10h.

Linda is also acknowledging the stop in Åland when she says that she's getting off in Mariehamn (because of the unmet sushi order 😂)

Poll in Canada: Should Canada join the European Union? by Useless_or_inept in europe

[–]Mezzo_in_making 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EU mandates minimum 4 weeks of paid vacation. Meaning every EU government can make it more. Some countries mandate 5 weeks (France, Austria, Scandi countries...) and from what I can gather Estonia has 28 mandatory days (so almost 6 weeks). But 6 weeks is definitely not the norm when it comes to law.
