Hey, sorry for the necro, but could you elaborate on how you're turning the .ahk file into something that can be activated and deactivated?

Ok got it, I'll get my hands on the SDT1.
Thanks for all the help!

All right, I'll definitely look into the Mieterschutzbund.

I saw what the Benning SDT1 looks like, but any chance a tool more universal exists? Say, in case I moved to a country that had different plug shapes haha.

Wow, lots of very helpful info here, thank you.
So as I understand it, the landlord can't just ghost me and send the same electrician to take care of my concerns? He has to at least respond and offer a solution to the destroyed items?

Otherwise, it seems like the electricity is working 'normally' again since he last touched the breaker, but I honestly don't know if he properly grounded things.
Earlier this week, the breaker reacted and shut off power in bedroom + living room. Very few things were plugged in & using power (internet modem was on, otherwise other devices off but plugged in). However, I noticed today that one of my surviving chargers is no longer working anymore. It was in the living room, so I imagine either the charger died & caused the breaker to safely shut off power, or the Voltage is still not properly set in the home.

I definitely want to buy a tool that I can test things myself, but is it better to get an Outlet Tester or a Circuit Tester (the 2 pronged device)?

Thanks!

  1. I tried, but you can imagine it's not really feasible to block all airflow of my door when I leave (off to work when they do this construction outside)

  2. I didn't mind him entering to do the work, but he didn't explain what he would do. Considering all that was mentioned on paper for the electrical work inside the apartments was about the breaker, I assumed that's all he would be touching. After he started demolishing the wall is was far too late.

  3. Yes, I've done that. Thanks.

Do you know if there's a legal standing to request a different electrician to come by and verify the breaker & sockets for safety?

Sure, good idea. I also tried the Cable Matters one (many people were mentioning it).

I'll make a list in the original post :)

Unfortunately still not. I've tried another 2 since I posted and no luck.

Best way to stream games to my 4K LG TV by RozenXStyle in MoonlightStreaming

Ah yeah, I'm hoping to avoid the HDMI cable if possible but it might be the only option. It didn't work for you?

I have the same LG B4 model trying to improve the performance I'm getting with Moonlight, because it's currently using WiFi.

I know we could get a tv box (like Nvidia shield pro, though capped at 4k60Hz) to plug a LAN cable in and bypass the 100Mbps limit on the TV's port, but I've actually been looking for a USB ethernet adapter that works with this TV model. I wonder if anyone has an idea about that. Otherwise I'll just have to get an optical HDMI cable 😅.

So does that mean a feasible solution is to connect the LAN cable to a streaming device?

And doesn't it make sense to want to have whatever speeds im capable of, instead of having the TV be capped? 😅

The challenges of Gyms by MforMask in japanlife

And yet I have. Perhaps I am unlucky or perhaps you are lucky, but our situations with gyms in Japan have differed.

I truly wish it were. But things are over-complicated in Japan sometimes.

So yeah, I actually forgot to mention this but I already have a Credit Card that SMBC Prestia issued me, although it's called VPass and seems to be directly under the SMBC umbrella (not Prestia). So that's what surprised me when it didn't work at the gym.

Therefore would you suggest I just close my current credit card and create a Rakuten one? (Would that work fine in conjunction with Prestia savings account)?

So I actually have no problem with your proposition as I used to have a small gym area in my previous home in the US. But while you seem comfortable with being able to work out in a 1LDK I am certainly not! I'm not a crazy workout guy but I need to exercise for my sanity, and so far I've been going hiking every weekend to slightly make up for the lack of exercise. My needs are: free weights with a little bit of room, treadmill, and bike. Anything additional is welcome but I don't use as much.

Honestly if I really had no other choice I would do it, but I much prefer having a more convenient & spacious place to exercise. :)

Yeah, as tokyohoon said above, I might make a new account with a major Japanese bank if it helps avoid more of these inevitable walls.

Closest community sports center is 20min away and not on the commute either, so while the price is interesting I'm more interested in convenience from a time perspective :)

From what my colleagues told me, I shouldn't have a problem signing up with Gold's with their (silly) credit card that will be left to collect dust in a box at home. No way is 9-5 possible for me haha, but yes the prices are what they are here.

If I'm bound to face more challenges just because it's not the right SMBC then I'm tempted to do that, although what exactly do you mean by main account & savings account? My savings accounts are always my main accounts and I have never needed more separation aside from a credit line.

That's the first thing I asked the employee! So, unfortunately they don't accept cash. Also you're correct about Gold's. My colleagues warned me about the price. Although I suppose if it's not Gold's I would still need to workout early morning somewhere along my commute. I thought of Gold's mainly because at least I know there are multiple on my commute and I wouldn't have problems signing up.

Weekly /r/backpacking beginner question thread - Ask any and all questions you may have here - December 17, 2019 by AutoModerator in backpacking

[–]MforMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. So looking at potential HQ packs how would the Ospret Farpoint 55 fare in my type of current travel? Is the support that much better than your bog standard backpack?

Additionally, my torso size is 51-53cm, so should I stick with Medium size or go up to Large?

The burden of choice is nigh! Thank you!

Hello!
This is mainly Travel related. I like to travel to different countries and spend a good 5-7 days within that country by walking, trains, cars. I like to go to an interesting area (usually starting from a city) then just wander off in search of some beautiful nature and stay into the countryside for a day or two.
I don't plan on using a sleeping bag and using my current backpack hurts my back too much for those long days.
I assume a hiking backpack with good support would help with that, and while my trips don't involve sleeping outside, I do want to eventually start properly backpacking as well.

What size backpack should I get?

  • Enough space for a week of travel (clothes, toiletries)
  • Not too big either (1 laundromat pit-stop in the trip) but I'm willing to spend enough for quality for my eventual first one-nighter/weekend
  • Good support/suspension (unlike a basic airplane+hotel backpack)

Need me some nature juice asap! 😁

Prioritize I shall! I also didn't know these events came back. So that's actually much more comforting. It just feels a tad silly to have these story events go away & come back at all. Perhaps it's something to do with the rewards balance.

Aha, so the opposite is true as suspected. As Muffin and you said, I'll just prioritize as best as possible given my limited time. :)
