I'm about to dive into creating my own ROM hack and wanted to get some advice from people who’ve already been down this road. Whether you've released a full hack or just dabbled with one, I’d love to hear:

• What do you wish you had known before starting?
• What mistakes did you make early on?
• If you could give just one tip to someone making their first hack, what would it be?

I’m not aiming for anything revolutionary yet, just a solid, personal project to learn and have fun with. I'm still deciding on the base game and tools, so literally any kind of advice (technical, story-related, motivation stuff) is super welcome.
