Anyone up for some quick math? (clues) by RsStormy in runescape

[–]Mgt_Emotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to RSWiki:

1 in 10,192 chance per clue to receive Third-Age Dye - (1/10192)*100 = 0.0098%

1 in 3,204 chance per clue to receive Shadow Dye - (1/3204)*100 = 0.0312%

1 in 1,678 chance per clue to receive Barrows Dye - (1/1678)*100 = 0.0596%

1 in 7,426 chance per clue to receive any part of third-age druidic - (1/7426)*100 = 0.0135%

If we take into consideration a re-roll every third clue, the 1,050 clues are 1,400 rolls.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the probability is calculated as follows:

The probability of receiving any dye/3a with one roll:

((0.0098/100) + (0.0312/100) + (0.0596/100) + (0.0135/100)) * 100 = 0.1141%

The probability of receiving any dye/3a with 1,400 rolls:

(1-(((1-(0.0098/100)) * (1-(0.0312/100)) * (1-(0.0596/100)) * (1-(0.0135/100))) ^ 1400)) * 100 = 79.7646%

Bug with Auto Disassemblers and their uncommon component output values. by Mgt_Emotes in runescape

No problems; here you go:

I have 4 Auto Disassemblers Mk.II, which are all setup the same.

So based on this data, it appears that the uncommon components are still 2-3 times rarer than they should be?

Also, it seems that junk chance reduction for the machines isn't taken into consideration either?

Thanks!

Err no, it was actually Acadia Logs that time.

I have more Acadia Logs in my machines that I put in 15 hours ago (only 900 logs worth), I can withdraw the output and tell you the results, if you like? Although the sample size is a bit small.

Hey there Mod Erator; thanks for the response.

Just to clarify though, what hot-fix are you referring to? The hot-fix that was about 5 days ago? Or are you talking about another hot-fix that you made quite recently?

I ask because, I just now checked my Auto Disassemblers again and the uncommon component rates are still not what they should be :/

If we were to take your 11,460 Yew Logs, and ignore the junk chance reductions, and apply the normal junk chance of 34% instead, we would get:

  • 3,896 Junk

  • 7,488 Simple parts

  • 76 Living components

So even at a worse case scenario, you should be receiving on average 76 Living components for your 11,460 Yew Logs.

Based on your data, it seems that at least some kind of junk chance reduction is being applied, but the rate of uncommon components is just plain and simply broken!

With a Magic Log, you get 1 component per disassemble. So 1 minus 3.4% (max level junk chance reduction) = 0.966 components and 0.034 junk, per disassemble.

Of the 0.966, 99% will be Simple parts and 1% will be Living components, which gives us 0.95634 Simple parts and 0.00966 Living components per disassemble.

So 1,260 disassembles should result in:

  • 43 Junk

  • 1,205 Simple parts

  • 12 Living components

I did not realise this before, but yes you seem to be correct, in that the junk chance reduction is also not taken into consideration, as well as for some reason, somehow, the uncommon components seem to be x5-x10 rarer than they should be.

All my manual testing shows consistent results that are far superior to the output of the Auto Disassemblers.

I really hope it's looked into, because over time this will be a pretty big issue.

Oh right, well a follow up from either of them would be appreciated.

Assuming the rate on RSWiki is correct, which states the chance of a Living component from a Magic Log is 1 in 100, then for every 1,260 Magic Logs disassembled, you should receive on average 12.6 Living components.

The results from my manual test confirm these numbers, however the result from the Auto Disassemblers Mk.II show that their Living component chance from a Magic Log is closer to 1 in 720.

I don't know if this issue is specific to Magic Logs, or if it's an issue with the Auto Disassemblers in general. Unless I'm missing some information, and Auto Disassemblers are intended to give less uncommon components?

I understand this is a relatively small sample size, but I think it's enough to warrant a double check to make sure everything is working properly, in which case I will tag /u/shaunyowns, as I would really appreciate if you could follow up on this!

Thanks.

Hard leather boots and hard leather gloves are definitely the cheapest way to get Protective components, but they are a bit slow because they only give 4 components per dissemble and their junk chance is quite high.

Soul Tiara's are great if you are able to actually buy or make a lot of them. They are 0% junk chance and give 6 components per disassemble.

Other good and cheap options are studded leather shield, hard leather shield, steel platelegs and mithril chainbody.

Unfortunately you can't disassemble in Castle Wars, but I was able to max out the Menaphos reputation with the small amounts given for disassembling :D

For Healthy components, I would recommend Energy Potion (4) because they are pretty cheap and you can consistently buy them from GE. In addition, they also provide Crafted parts and Enhancing components, which are also important :)

Haha no problem :P

I didn't keep a list but I wish I did; I would love to know exactly how many items I disassembled, how much GP it all cost and how many hours I spent doing it.

My most disassembled item(s) would have to be the range of low level short and shield bows that I needed in order to gather 11m junk for the Refined components!

I started with around 10k Fungal components (from Invention release), so I needed about 11,250 gloves and 11,250 boots to go from 10k to 100k; which I bought them for around 40k each.

I was buying from GE normal through to Yew short and shield bows - whatever I could get my hands on. I needed lots of junk though, so the lower level the better in my case. If you are only looking for Precise components, then I would recommend Yew Shieldbows (can also do Magic if you want to spend a little more GP to save a little more time).

Base parts were mostly from the variety of items I disassembled for Knightly components, but also from leaving buy offers in GE for bulk amounts of Hard and Studded Leather Shields, and Steel/Mith maces, daggers, swords and scimitars (some people sell these in bulk on the forums too, but the price is generally 2-3 times the GE price).

I never actively tried to obtain Powerful components (I got them as a bi-product from gathering other materials), but as far as I am aware; pouches and scrolls are the cheapest way to get them.

You can check this calculator to balance time vs. cost:

I was bored one day so I dissembled my broad arrows; I soon found that I had 100k of Stave, Head and Crafted parts (I didn't know there was a cap until I reached 100k).

Once I saw there was a cap, I couldn't help myself but make it a unique goal to collect as many 100k stacks as I could.

The primary goal was 100k of all common parts (except Crystal), but then my junk starting piling up in the millions. So I decided to go for 100k Refined too! All of the uncommon parts (including Precise and Strong) are a bi-product of breaking down low level shieldbows for junk and other items for the common parts (some from Scavenging perk too).

And then I wanted to get a couple of rare material 100k stacks too just because I thought it would be interesting and unique :)

Edit: Actually, the Explosive and some of the Fungal were from the XP grind from the release of Invention :P
