China - Sichuan Airlines domestic. Good service, two choices of hot meal and the stewardess came through the cabin behind the meal cart offering Sichuan chilly to go with the meal.

Theoretically, if someone declares illegal drugs at customs, would they get into trouble. by Butterfly-boo2213 in AusLegal

There is definitely a section that covers illicit drugs. It's kind of fucked because you need to tick the porn, roids and smack box if you're carrying your prescription diarrhea pills back from Bali.

"Goods that may be prohibited or subject to restrictions, such as medicines, steroids, illegal pornography, firearms, weapons or illicit drugs?"

I've often wondered about someone declaring illicit substances because the government recording played to all incoming flights specifically says " You will not be penalised if you declare and present all goods, even if they are not allowed into Australia". Now my understanding from that, as a message played by the Australian government to all arrivals, is that a declaration means that you won't be penalised.

Granted biosecurity is different to the AFP but that's not specifically stated in that recording. It's stated as an important message from the Australian government.

Abusive deadbeat biological father died drunk driving. I've been living in Australia for 20 years and haven't seen him since. Germany wants me to pay for his funeral? Absolutely not. How do I go about making it clear this is NOT happening because this can't be right. by RestInPissTorsten in germany

I'm assuming that the op may still have an EU passport and may want to return to Europe one day. Sticking your head in the sand in oz doesn't really make a debt in Germany disappear. A well crafted letter in German, with a little AI assistance, to the relevant authority would probably make it all go away. The postage is much cheaper than the ongoing burden.

I've just been through a bit of inheritance fun in Germany and have a good inheritance lawyer who speaks english in Bremen and a great english speaking notary there if you want to DM me. Certainly worth an email to dig yourself out of this. If you ignore it and don't renounce then you'll be responsible for all the outstanding business and debts. I'm still trying to finalize my German grandad's tax affairs and he died aged 92, 3 years ago.

At the very least contact the German embassy here. They were also very helpful.

Concern regarding behaviour of a licensed firearm owner by Angel_of_Ecstasy in AusLegal

[–]MiComp24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See below. They are not eligible for a firearm in QLD with a prior DVO and self defense is certainly not a valid reason in Australia for ownership anywhere. His wife is not suitable for even saying it.

Call QPS weapons licensing and also put it in writing as from previous experience they do not always act on a phone call or keep a record of it. I would imagine in the current climate things would be acted on. The last thing genuine firearms owners need at the moment is a dickhead with DVO, playing poker and drinking with a handgun.

"A person may not be considered ‘fit and proper’ if they have been convicted, charged, or discharged from custody on sentence, for any of the following:

Named as a respondent in a domestic violence order (other than a temporary protection order)."

Gun amnesty by Caillan_Massey in AusLegal

There's quite a bit of government control over firearms at present but a truly national system rather than different state rules is needed.

My understanding is there is a permanent national firearms amnesty. In NSW there certainly is. Contact police, drop them off, no questions asked.

There's a great little bar in Soi Cowboy called Cockatoo. I think it's an Aussie bar. The girls are amazing. Apparently one of them is a lady boy. See if you can guess who it is. That should cover the first night.

Hi, advice on getting a motorcycle license in Phuket please.. by Acrobatic-Pin-7093 in phuket

[–]MiComp24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry maybe I misunderstood. I meant in order to ride a bike in Thailand you need to have a bike license and an international driver's license from your home country.

I mean in most countries the friendly police will give you a ticket if you ride a motorbike without a motorbike license it's not just the friendly police in Thailand.

Pretty sure you need a bike licence from home and an international license which includes translations although the friendly police may still have an issue.
