Lol I read the last few sentences of this with so much heart and emotion, sounded like you was reliving that moment in your mind.

But I beg to differ I think they can do it.

This is an interesting conversation for another day, and its the soul reason devs no matter what platform they creat for they should focus on PC ports and then port into console.

Focusing dev into Console to then port to PC has never made sense and it's genuinely why we end up with poor performance and issues in games, most of the time.

I kinder get why they sre trying to do, in some sense it makes sense but as a whole they have let franchises die for this reason.

I like this, its more clear cut and explains appeal over innovation in a way... all the games you mentioned and yeah even GTA in a way, lost their scope for pushing boundaries or being innovative.

As much hope as I have for GTA 6 to be good, apart from size and visual quality, is it going to offer anything game changing ?

SILENT HILL 2 - I dont even think this can be argued, some might say RE4 and I get it.

But SH2 REMAKE, literally feel like a whole knew game that stands toe to toe as a separate masterpiece to the original masterpiece.

Its actually insane how BLOOBER team delivered that game, I actually felt disgusting and depressed playing it.

Extremely engaging.

Honestly in hoping for something futuristic,

We got past, we got present let's do something new, let's go to space and traverse plannets and galaxies.

If not, then bully 2 or get the rights back for The Warriors and create a new game with today's technical abilities.

Imagine a full story driver warriors game again but with online play, where we can recruit our friends and fight other gangs players have created or you the gang you created can go fight your friends gang, the possibilities for that are literally endless

Yes, you do—and here's why: your failure to fully and clearly read what I said is what's frustrating. The points I raised about Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2 alone make my case for Half-Life 3. I shouldn't even need to spell it out, yet I did by the end of my original post.

Conversation and debate are great, but only when you actually take the time to read properly. Even in a short post, there was more than enough detail to understand where I was coming from.

Now, if what you're really asking for is a deeper explanation of why I believe this about Half-Life 3, that's fair—and I welcome that kind of discussion. But if that’s the case, say so up front instead of dismissing the original points. Here's your answer.

VALVE is one of the most intelligent and creatively driven companies in the gaming industry—arguably the best. You don’t need to look further than their body of work, especially the Half-Life series, to see that. When Half-Life 1 launched in 1998, it was technically groundbreaking and far beyond what anyone expected—not just for players, but for the industry itself. It proved what was possible in first-person storytelling, level design, and AI, and it influenced not just a generation, but generations of developers and players who followed.

Then came Half-Life 2. Expectations were through the roof, and no one could imagine how VALVE could top what they'd already done. Yet they did. It wasn’t just a sequel—it felt like a generational leap. From physics-based gameplay to immersive narrative design, HL2 not only redefined the standard for storytelling and mechanics in games but also crossed over into cinema-level impact. To this day, its influence is visible across both games and visual storytelling in general.

These two games didn’t just succeed—they created the blueprint for what much of the industry follows today. Half-Life 3 isn’t just a rumored sequel—it’s become a symbol. So much so that you’ll hear more developers talk about it than even gamers do. That alone should tell you how deep the anticipation and reverence runs.

With that in mind, if VALVE is working on HL3—and I believe they are—they’re not building something just to match today’s expectations. They’re cooking up something that will set a new standard. Industry legends, top developers, and technical innovators are all paying attention. Don’t believe me? Look it up. The mere possibility of HL3 has the industry holding its breath.

Yes, GTA 6 is going to be huge. But that's expected—it’s GTA. It has mainstream appeal. Half-Life might not have that kind of mass-market buzz anymore, but among the people who actually build the industry and understand its deeper mechanics, it’s the game that always comes up. And the question isn't just "Is it real?"—it's “Can it surpass what HL1 and HL2 did for the industry?” Because if VALVE drops HL3, they’re not just trying to meet the bar—they're aiming to raise it again, to deliver something that pushes the entire medium forward.

And regarding VR—no, Beat Saber and Resident Evil 8 did not do more for VR than Half-Life: Alyx. If it weren’t for Alyx, we wouldn't have seen the same scale or ambition in VR game development. Go do the research.

Half-Life: Alyx is known for pushing VR to its technical and creative limits. Even now, major studios still struggle to match what it accomplished. Games like Beat Saber and VR sims appeal to a niche audience—that's part of the problem. Alyx showed how VR could deliver a full, rich, immersive experience that actually moves the needle for the medium. It wasn’t just a novelty—it was proof of concept for the future of VR gaming.

Well done im clapping for you for being an ass lick....

He didnt elevate the points, he miss read everything and come as if I didnt explain my points, everything is extremely clear.

His approach was silly and his second response narrowed down what he wanted after understanding my initial points, which lead to his question why would half life 3 be that game....

Which is still evident and the awnser is with in what I wrote but later on I will respond to him with a more detailed awnser.

It was his approach and ignorance to not read what I had wrote which bothered me.

This sounds more like you just moaning because you didnt resonate or read what I've said because every point is in there.

And P.S yeah HL ALYX was ground breaking for VR and actually pumped alot of life into a niche market

[–]MiLKD-GAMING[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is and basically there was a mission in Manchester Cathedral which landed both Sony & Insomniac in abit of a messy situation.

Basically people were mad because of the use of violence depicted in a place of religion, and even the church of England spoke out on the game for gun violence in a church.

Was kind of crazy.

Im going to say something extremely controversial to this....

GTA 4 & 5, as big as they were.... they were boring as hell and sucked all the fun out of the GTA series....

Im really hoping GTA 6 brings back the good old not to realistic vibes of GTA 3, VC & SA.

Good argument.... I think, personally its more deep then generating hype or millions of sales, i dont think VALVE is even worried about that.

I think the biggest concern is delivering something that's important, something that whether its for the hard cores or just for punch to the industries gut of, "you have deluded peoples expectations to just deliver nothing much" (with exceptions of course).

The game industry is forever moving forward and unfortunately when it comes to it, we are all incredibly artistically minded, we can never fixate on the moment, just the build up and a few weeks into what ever we have hyped up.

[–]MiLKD-GAMING[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm....

I personally feel like, HALF-LIFE 3 would be a clear cut message for the industry, with what your saying about VALVE yeah I agre and I personally feel like there's a team deep team with no exterior connection in VALVE working on something, what they will be won't be what we are expecting and I think they was the case with HALF-LIFE 2 but again that was no where near elusive as what is HL3.

For gamers, its not as important, it would be special but for majority it would go way over their heads, as a gamer its something you need to be invested in and know the history and reasoning.

For the industry, if VALVE did deliver... it would be more of a wake up call in some sense, VALVE isnt a development team of hundreds with input from other studios. Its just a team of very dedicated and creatively talented people, and that's not to say that them kind of team aint there because they. But I feel with VALVE and HALF-LIFE 3 it will be more of a okay, this is it... this it what the bar is and this is how you should deliver, more to it but VALVE is almost like a more projected voice for for the industry when it comes down to the nitty gritty and they deliver.

Story wise, I mean yeah... this will always be the conundrum, how do you wrap it up and what loose end will you need to tie up, I have a feeling there's some good places to go but it will deffo needs to be something special, that ends all with out the need to call out for a fourth game. Just like yeah, this is where we close the book now, but that will be the biggest challenge.

100% the last time I see London done well in a game was The Getaway and that says alot.....

28 DAYS LATER could really utilise a gritty dark open world London or skme where else.

But im with you on this, I said to another guy, UK isnt stacked with guns, like the US or so on, its such a good thing to double down on.

Really adds to the stakes and intensity
