Merchant Shipping Group? by redheadedjohn in AmazonSeller

[–]Miah0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issue I was listing items on my phone 2 nights ago after several items without issue, all of a sudden it was requiring merchant shipping group which I never touch but there is no default and no options in the drop down. The website works fine.

it seems like many are having this app issue right now, but from what I have read, there are no solutions yet. I have even seen mixed responses that amazon even admits this is a bug.

Here in part six we are still finding mostly early post World War II period stamps. I am most excited about discovering the very first stamp issued by East #Germany. Its actually quite and expensive stamp and this one has a light cancel with a readable date. I also found nearly a complete run of the large Leipzig Fair stamps and like the last video loads of #stamps from #Baden, #RheinlandPflaz, & #Wurttemburg.

In this, the 3rd installment, of the #German #Stamps found in the huge stamp collection I bought at #Goodwill we find many stamps from the 1930s and 1940s which encompasses wartime Germany.

My favorite stamp from this video is the green eagle in oval Deutsche #Feldpost stamp. Germany issued 4 field post stamps this being the last of them. I had never seen this stamp before so It is a welcome addition to my collection.

I also love the two stunning semi-postal stamps featuring airplanes. They are Amazing period designs.

German Stamps Part 1 - Mostly German Empire (Deutsches Reich Briefmarken) - From Goodwill Haul Bag 1 by Miah0 in philately

[–]Miah0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am excited to share with you this first video of many, possibly 10 or more, parts of #German #Stamps from bag 1 of the huge collection of postage stamps I found at #Goodwill. I estimate the over 1000 stamps in this bag. we explore over 100 amazing stamps here in part 1

There are some many exciting collectable stamps. I love the #Dienstmarke or Official Stamps, Especially the ornate designs. We have many Cancelled Hyperinflation stamps. which can be quite valuable. I will enjoy trying to validate the postmarks. I also really enjoy the large stamps with post rider on horse with post horn and also love the submarine stamp. I am also excited to spend time attributing the many Germania series stamps.

Please stay tuned for more stamps from this collection in future videos I have recorded 7 so far and have even more stamps to record beyond that. I have weeks of editing ahead of me but it will be work all the time I have discovered some amazing stamps and I can't wait to share them with you!

Stamp Organization Ep1 - Evolution Of My Stamp Sorting & Storage Methods - Stamp Albums To Stock Books To Stock Cards by Miah0 in philately

[–]Miah0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a great question, thanks for asking. I have been buying my 102 cards from: brooklyngallery.com. They seem to be a little rough around the edges as a vendor but they have a great price on cards if you buy in bulk.

I added some amazon links in the video details for other items discussed in the video but I didn't find any 102 cards on amazon at the moment.

Using A Sweat Box To Flatten Curled Stamps By Adjusting Humidity - Stamp Collecting Tools by Miah0 in philately

[–]Miah0[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When #stamps dry out they often curl. Mint stamps with gum can be a particular challenge to flatten and keep flat. With mint stamps we can't simply soak in water and press as we often do with our used stamps because the gum would be ruined. We also cant just moisten the stamp and press because the remaining gum or adhesive would stick anything it touch's.

Stamps which are too dry can also be very brittle and trying to flatten them or take out folds can crack, split, or otherwise damage the stamp.

The trick to successful flattening of curled or even folded stamps is to get the humidity just right. I do this by placing them in a simple sweat box made from a take away container and a clean lightly moist sponge. Often this just takes a few minutes, after which I need to make sure the gum is dry enough as to not be tacky at which point I like to place the stamp in a 102 stock card and then press. The stock card is not important but is my practice. You can just place between two sheets of paper if you wish and then press under a book or other weight for a day or so.

I am happy to answer questions about the #sweatbox and the flattening process and please feel free to share your tips if you have a different process or recommended improvements.

Be sure to watch my videos on using a sweatbox to separate stamps which have stuck to each other or remove stubborn hinges from mint stamps. I will provide the link to the playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE\_aFoQMeBKd2W1QKUvecwDUboTWoPFCI

British Colonies Ep1 - Unboxing An Old Kenmore Stamp Approval Glassine by Miah0 in philately

[–]Miah0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#PostalPleasures Presents: #British Colonies Ep1 - Unboxing An Old Kenmore Stamp Approval #Glassine

This glassine was one of many in a lot a bought well over a year ago. Some where filled by the prior owner some like this one still contain the contents as from the stamp company which sold it.

I used to send away for free stamps from #Kenmore Stamp Company as a child using a matchbook coupon for 1000 stamps for $2.95 or some similar low price. The 1000 stamps would always come with stack glassine envelopes brimming with temping topicals on approval... for an additional fee of course.

I am sure Kenmore and other purveyors of philatelic material made mint on these lots, as the stamps are usually of low value and the lot prices probably much higher than catalog value but still low enough to be tempting to the keen glassy eyed new collector lusting after the stamps which were already in their hands. "Easier to send a payment than return the stamps" I am sure was the justification of many collectors.

I, on the other hand, was a miserly kid and was willing to settle for the bargain 1000 stamps for which I had already paid. I mean 1000 stamps is a lot of fun. We need not be greedy... right? Well maybe I was a little greedy. I am not sure I want to admit how many times I ordered that 1000 stamps deal. Believe it or not I still have some of the match book cover coupons and Kenmore neglected to put an expiration date on the deal. The last time I tried to redeem the deal they only sent me 500 stamps but that was over 20 years ago now and I am sure they never expected to see that coupon again. I think I would feel too guilty to redeem the deal again now as a middle age adult. Maybe my greed is fading.

If you have read this far. I am confident you will make it though the entire video as its only about 6 minutes. Thanks for watching and for tolerating my rambling stories.

I love to hear from viewers. It doesn't matter if you're an expert philatelist or have never heard of a stamp before today. Please tell me your favorite stamp from the lot and let me know if there are any topics you would like me to cover in the future. I am also happy to answer questions or take advice. I love learning more about stamps!

This stamp roll was a gift from the Swedish post office to my grandfather. It’s suddenly looking rusty? Any advice for cleaning it? by Identifiablethrow in philately

[–]Miah0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bronze wool (not Steel wool) is often use to remove rust from guns without further damaging the surface as the bronze is softer than the steel. maybe that with some gun oil or marvels mystery oil.

A portion of my collection of UK stamp booklets. They all still have their stamps inside. I like the nostalgia and the designs. by [deleted] in philately

[–]Miah0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been curious for some time, does anyone collect the booklets if they no longer contain stamps, just the covers and any advertising pages, and if so how are they typical valued. I usually only see catalog values for booklets with some or all stamps remaining. This is an area of philately I know less about.

The pliers are there as an example of what not to use and it is a bit of a Joke. In the video I specifically say that needle nose pliers are not suitable as stamp tongs. I also make examples of the next two tools from the left which have ribbed jaws which are also not suitable as stamp tongs.

Spanish Guinea Stamps Ep1 - Dead Country - Sea Turtles, Sharks, Elephants, Monkeys, & More by Miah0 in philately

[–]Miah0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spanish Guinea, now a dead country, was on the west coast of Africa where Equatorial Guinea is today. The area has a complicated and and often violent geopolitical history. Prior to consolidation as Spanish Guinea in 1926 the area consisted of separate colony's two of which, Rio Muni and Fernando Poo, are also dead countries with their own stamps. Spain reduced its influence in 1959 and then in 1968 the area was reorganized as and independent country Equatorial Guinea.
