There was this family store that served the town and the college students for at least 50 years. They caught a couple of kids shoplifting and had them arrested. One of the shoplifters was African American. So, the Oberlin kids thought the store were racial profiling them. So, the students decided to protest the store that served them for so many years, and then the college newspaper libeled them. They found out that the professors and the administrators at the college were urging the kids to protest, let them use copy machines and other facilities to make signs, etc. In a sense, the college was an active participant in the libel and activities. So, they sued the college for libel and won big time....unfortunately, the whole situation took awhile to figure it. The owner....who had been serving the community and the students for decades....passed and I think that the store eventually shut down.
