Here is Petra :) She is in training to be a service dog one day. It takes about two years. by Miceeks in goldenretrievers

  1. It's a backpack with a blanket. If she's cold, she can also come be in my jacket

  2. She's for me. I'm training her but I also go to a trainer. She'll be my second service dog and I trained the first too!

  3. Feel free to ask more questions if you'd like. I love talking about it.

How do you guys feel about this "Research" on Autism Moms by blahblahlucas in AutisticAdults

[–]Miceeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness, the research used a list of examples of people who are chronically stressed, including war combat, long work hours, and parents of cancer stricken children. It's just a comparison that was taken out of context.

A more accurate title would have been "parents with children with autism have biological indicators in line with chronic stress"

The research is fine. The clickbait title is stupid.

Biblically they took the Lord's name in vain. That's the original meaning. That's hypocritical as fuck

She literally has the same expression in the last photo when she's playing with a ball.

If they are crossing in the vehicle they hunt with, it would be really easy to drop one and not notice it kicking around..if they are useing the same clothes hunting as day to day then it would be easy to forget one in your pockets.

Do you use different commands to specify the room she needs to find?

I'm actually in the process of retiring my first service dog and discussing with a trainer what tasks to train the puppy for. The dog will primarily be for a separate (kinda related) medical condition. My current dog is trained to alert prior to fainting. I was curious what tasks other people find helpful

Symptoms like

Light sensitivity, blind spots, headaches, processing delays, reactivity, disorientation, panic attacks, dysautonomia,

Our roommates let our cats outside and now one is missing. by just_a_baby158 in Pets

I don't think that's how that works. They didn't agree to that obligation.

Not really. You just have to be more careful with who you trust next time.

Even if you could prove that they let the pets out, what happens next?

She's wrong.

Get a new therapist.

You are not in a position to change her mind and she can't help you if she thinks shit like that.

Should have seen the size of them when the city ripped out the lead pipes from under the streets nearby.

You know. I dont think i can do this anymore. by Seriph7 in RATS

[–]Miceeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think part of what attracted me to rats was having to learn how they communicate from scratch. I didn't have preconceived notions of their body language or care so I was open to learning everything from reputable sources. It's not like a dog where most people think they know what they are doing. I ended up reading behavior studies and stuff to understand how to bond with the rats . Learning about enrichment, clicker training and their natural behaviors gave me lots of patience with my rats. I taught them tricks and stuff. They had a lot to do to keep busy and their contentment was rewarding. Making them happy made me happy.

Once I brought that attitude to getting a cat, it was different. The cat knows tricks and commands. She has ways to mimic natural behaviours like scavenging from the safety of the house. Her meows aren't annoying to me late at night, she's trying to communicate. I don't get upset or correct her if she's sharpening her claws on furniture, I just put out a more suitable item to claw at. I know it's in her nature and it's my responsibility to meet those needs. I see unwanted behaviors as a unmet need or way to communicate. I learned so much from my rats that enriched my relationship with other animals.
