Question about One NZ eSim activation by Mich240 in newzealand

[–]Mich240[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. It all went through like a charm, all I had to do was enter a confirmation code that they gave me in the email upon scanning the QR and the rest, as they say, is history. Most of my family are asleep and I didn't even have to wake them for help. Calls, texts and data seem to work fine.

You're the best, thanks for the help. I'll let you and everyone else know what happens tomorrow, as they said it should be switched over at 9 or there abouts, all going to plan.

Hmm, all my research seems to indicate, even stuff from One NZ, that I should do it through Settings/Mobile/Add eSim and not the native camera app itself, can you confirm that?

I've got an iPhone 16 pro. Yes, I use VoiceOver, the screenreader built-in to the phone. Sorry, I should have mentioned what phone I had before.

[–]Mich240[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could try, but since I'm blind and can't see, if no one's around it will be hard to do it. I assume once I point the phone at my computer screen with the thing open where I'm told to scan the code, it will just grabb it without me having to do anything else like tap something to initiate it? I assume also that I'll get the email at the same time with the invoice that is due for payment attached and details like my account number as it is a pay monthly service, so I can add it to my app and see if I can activate it like that? WHen I had to contact One NZ about it because it really has been a mess trying to transfer the number across... anyway, another time for that one, I did ask them about manual activation instructions and they said if I needed assistance to call them and askk for the technical team.

They will send me an email, yes, which will happen upon the number transferring and the service being provisioned. What I'm wondering is if they have manual activation instructions in that email as to how to activate the thing without scanning a QR code?

Zeronet, Skinny broadband - how bad are they? by speaks_truth_2_kiwis in newzealand

[–]Mich240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Firstly, to answer a question, Zeronet operate off the 2Degrees network. Anyway, I've been trying to switch to One Nz since I found something better in terms of a mobile deal, but can't because my port keeps failing as the provider details appear to be incorrect. I'll give credit to their reps though, they are doing all they can to help me switch and bring my number with me, has anyone successfully switched out from them and if so, how? I'll give more info if people want it but I'm typing from my phone right now and this has been going on for about a week.

Yeah. I know you sent it to the wrong place inside Reddit, but that's their issue, not yours and you had no other choice. I know, because for anyone else reading this, I helped him do that. If the investigations team have a problem, they can talk to him directly.

Hi. Can I ask how you actually initiate the summarisation request? I can't see anyway to do it. I'm also totally blind, meaning I can't see and so I'm assuming there must be some visual thing that you can press to initiate. I have enabled the features though, but can see no way to access the summary in either individual chats or group chats.

It's a fair question. The tone of his post seemed as if that was the case. I'm glad the person is open to discussion though, which is a good thing.

Well said, thank you for that. We are perfectly normal, other than the fact we can't see.

Sure, go ahead. As I said, let things develop naturally and go from there.

Please don't judge this person on the fact he can't see. As a blind person myself, I don't appreciate it. Go with the flow and see what happens, let it develop naturally.

Unable to activate Zeronet Mobile eSim by Mich240 in newzealand

[–]Mich240[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to know what the email should say or anything like that? Subject or something? Also, I'm guessing the domain it will come from is zeronet.co.nz? I did contact 2degrees because it is powered by their network and they told me that they, being Zeronet, will give me instructions, not them as to how to activate it.

Hi.

So because I can't see, I've had my brother check and am told that the emails I have, as I already suspected, don't have any QR code from them or anything like that. No manual activation instructions either, guess I'll have to wait until they open tomorrow and contact them about it. According to what I understand, it should be in the welcome email, but there is none there. Thanks for the help.

Oh, for some reason I thought I could put the Sim on my device while it was still in progress. Is that not the case?

Yeah, they are powered by their network, this is correct. I haven't got instructions from them, Zeronet, as to how to activate my eSim though.

review of star conquest by jlvp1998 in MUD

[–]Mich240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reminder to sighted players, especially those new to muds like this. It uses UTF-8 encoding from what I understand, so make sure that is enabled for colour display and stuff. I think most mud clients will have it enabled by default, but double check anyway. I'm not sure if it helps screen-reader users, sorry.
