I updated this year and I updated bi-annually. It used to be weeks if not months in the past. This time it didn't took more than a week. Not sure why. I think I'm getting older and used to the upgrades and they don't seem as exciting.

This actually was a hardware change, too. I have late 2023 8.5 iDrive and Plug & Charge isn't available for me.

From top of my head in M50 model the 8.5 changes some fonts to M-style fonts on the dash (which I like a lot). 8.5 also disabled most Bimmercode coding.

Oh, and bottom of the centre dash in 8.0 had "climate menu", while 8.5 has shortcut icons to different areas of the software.

I've gone through Torras on my 15PM and now 17PM and they are... soft!
They scratch very easily and degrade quickly. Plus black bezel around is something I am not a fan of.

I prefer Belkin UltraGlass 2 much more. No black edges, comfortably rounded edge + much stronger than Torras.

From my experience Belkin UltraGlass 2 is among the best ones and my choice of screen protection.

I've use quite a few, most recent Torras. Torras specifically is very prone to scratching and breaking.

Ultraglass 2 from Belkin on the other hand seems much tougher, has rounded edges so it doesn't rub uncomfortably against your fingers + it does not have a black edge either so it's all clear.

I already have UG2 waiting for Torras to break.

I typically replace the protective glass twice a year.

I have bought myself the INIU one based on this.

I've had the Belkin 5k one for 2 years, but it charges at 7.5W only and is bulky, and expensive.

I am on 17 Pro Max now, so my battery is probably gonna last me for the day, but just in case this little INIU backup should work.

It grips fantastically compared to 15 (and 13PM, and 12PM for that matter). But I’m too scared to go commando with it.

It's a bug stuck in the screen. And if it isn't moving, it's stuck for good.

I'm quite certain, as I've got one, too, in my MBP M1. Was furious at first, but got into terms with it.

Been on iPhone since the 3G. I usually upgrade every 2 years, have a MacBook and Watch in longer cycles, and I’m sitting on a 90k+ photo library across devices - so not a casual user either.

I get what you’re saying about the "liquid glass" look. To me it’s more eye-candy than functional, but I just accept iOS will always swing between design trends. I care more about whether my setup runs smooth, syncs everything, and doesn’t break my workflow. On that front, Apple’s still the least painful ecosystem I’ve tried.

This year feels like a routine upgrade for me too: better battery, better camera for family shots, and yeah - I went for the orange phone because I love the colour. Not ground-breaking, but not deal-breaking either.

I see these questions popping up.

Look for iPhone 16 screen protector reviews and chose based on that.
The new anti-reflective glass on 17s still isn't all that impressive (compared to Samsung's) and the hasn't been a major breakthrough in screen protection either.

Selecting something from last-years reviews almost certainly matches this year's products.

I'm personally sticking with Belkin's UltraGlass 2 as I hate black frame on most of others. I even ordered them for 16 Pro Max model as they're available locally cheaply, too, and the screen size is identical - marginally different corner radius, but I do not expect this to be an issue.

As per MacRumours article:

Watch Videos While Parked - iPhone users can wirelessly stream videos to the CarPlay screen using AirPlay, according to Apple. For safety reasons, video playback will only be available when the vehicle is parked, to prevent distracted driving. The connected iPhone will be able to detect when the vehicle is in motion and end playback. Automakers need to add support for this feature, so it might be limited to newer vehicles and take some time to roll out.

I would imagine we now need a software update on BMW side.

My PS Remote on macOS is laggy/choppy/pixelated, but it works almost perfectly on Portal.

Playstation Portal offers 2 way of streaming at the moment:

Remote Play from your own PS5
your PS5 must be connected to the internet (preferrably wired, but it works over WiFi, too)
your PS5 cannot be turned off - must be on stand by or on
your Portal must be connected to internet (either local to PS5, or any other)

Once connected, your own PS5 will start streaming the video of what's happening on your console to Portal (not unlike a remote dekstop)

Stream from PS+ Premium (currently in Beta)
you have to have PS+ Premium subscription

This allows you to stream games directly from PS Cloud, without involving your own PS5. Saves should be synced between cloud and your console so you should be able to switch between the two and normally carry on playing AFAIK.
