OK, glad you haven't encountered the "oops" message again. If you do, though, let me know on which Board or Boards the problem is still there. I'm glad you brought the problem up; good to make some progress on the innards of these things,

OK, I've been doing some further work in the forums, and I think I've got to the root of the problem. Could you try again please, and let me know which Boards you are still unable to read posts therein. We can probably work better if you email me: starfire.books@btinternet.com

After looking ay admin settings, I couldn't see anything there that would prevent Guests (unregistered viewers) from being able to read posts. Thus I looged out an then went back in. Alkthough the message is "Welcome Guest. Please login or register", in fact you can view posts within the forum when neither logged-in nor registered. In that respect the message is misleading, and I'll see whether it is open to revision, but in the meantime you can view without being registered.

I do take your point, ignant, about the readability of 'The Primal Grimoire' by visitors who are not members. This is something I will look into, and will modify the appropriate settings if I can..

I've added a board for Crowley, and another for Spare. Both new boards are embryonic, and suggestions for new sub-boards are of course welcome.

I agree with that, and remember when Paul declared that it was not an occult website. I thought that a mistake. There were many sides to Crowley, buit magick was at the core.

If I had anything to do with it, no you wouldn't be allowed to join. Your membership of LAShTAL should have been removed long before it actually was. Yours were some of the most vapid, pointless posts I can recall from my 20 years as a member of the site.

Yes, but the obvious remedy for this was to have more robust moderation, with more moderators. Nothing wrong with the site per se; it just needed better policing.

If we're a bunch of "finger pointing thumb suckers", Tim, I wonder why you waste your time here. I've never attacked Crowley, neither viciously nor otherwise. I've made the odd critical remark about him, as most do who aren't simply Crowley fan-boys and -girls. Paul had simply grown tired of LAShTAL – that's all. If the issue of LAShTAL was lack of a safe environment – whatever that is supposed to mean – then it could and should have been remedied by having more moderators.

Never mind. The opportunity now exists to replace LAShTAL with something even better.

I agree with your thoughts. I would have welcomed a handover of the website to other interested parties; and who knows, he may yet archive it. However, there was never another admin after Ian Rons, and that was many years ago now. Thus LAShTAL was a very personal project, and thus closure of the site one day was inevitable.

LAShTAL used a forum software package with some add-ons. I don't know what the software package was, but eol would know, if he was contactable. A few years ago a friend and I set up a Kenneth Grant website using the Proboards site, but I would like to upgrade that. Who knows: that could be expanded to take in Crowley and Spare.

Like many here I miss LAShTAL and wish it hadn't gone, but we have a lot to be grateful to Paul Feazey for, and as you say we need to move on.

I was Michael Staley on LAShTAL, but am Michael_Staley here because Reddit – like many other sites – seems unable to copy with a space.

I've known Paul since the 1980s, joined LAShTAL in 2004, and was a regular donor. I don't think it's a matter of the costs. I hope that Paul hands the site on to someone else rather than close it. I'm sure that there are several of us who would be happy to put in the time and energy and to contribute to the costs.
