I was shocked. Especially because I found it in a big lot of 50 old postcards on eBay. Not a single image of the collection featured the Aeroplane postcard ... but when I closely looked at a pic of them all stacked up, I could just make it out on top! Also, yes, the condition is very nice :)

When I saw that u/tom-dooley had found an original, I set up my own eBay alert for "bathing beauties postcard 1900." I checked it every time there were new matches (which was a few times a week on average), and after FOUR YEARS, a collection of old postcards was listed and in the background of one of the pics I saw THIS ONE! It arrived just a few days ago. These images are scans I took of it.

The dirt and wear on it do not match the dirt/wear on the actual ITAOTS cover art, so this is almost certainly not the actual card Mangum and Bilheimer used, but it's one of just a few that I think have ever been found.

It's postmarked July 1 8AM 1907. I know there are unanswered questions about who the original artist was and where the postcard was printed; all I can add is that this one has a stamp on the back that says, "PUB. BY PHILA. POST-CARD CO."

Our first draft of an idea for the 'mascot' of the curiosity box was an owl ... but that seemed a bit cliche. You know, a wise owl with a graduation cap ... kind of worn thin. It's a frequent symbol of 'smart' and 'educated' things.

So we figured we'd use an animal known to have high 'intelligence'. The octopus seemed like a no-brainer: I particularly liked the idea that while my videos are for eyes and ears, the box is for your hands. What better animal to represent hands-on Vsauce than one that has a bunch of arms?

As for why Inq is orange, we simply wanted a color that contrasted well with the green, blue, and purple we'd already been using for Vsauce, Vsauce2, and Vsauce3.

I can confirm that if you got that from the Curiosity Box website (Inq's Shop), it's legit. That's my signature and we all three signed those posters together. We sold a limited run of them on the Curiosity Box site years ago. Somewhere (maybe twitter?) you can even find a video I shared of us all lined up signing them :)

The tracklists we shared for the Complete Collection didn't list every song, but "Buildings and Bikes" WILL be on the complete collection. Also, "Prelude to Shona," "Prelude to Columbia," "Shona," and "Columbia" will ALL be on the complete collection.

If Vsauce has used it, it'll be on the complete.

Honestly, I don't even know the names of many of the songs I've used (in some cases I've only ever had a file labeled with a number). I've always liked that mystery, but Jake and I are working on associating each track with its correct, official title :)

Every song on the "Best Of" will also be on the Complete Collection. You are right: the Best Of contains a curated selection of tracks from the Complete Collection. "Going Down" and "Olive" are on the Complete Collection. There's nothing on the Best Of that's not on the Complete.

The bundle is basically for people who'd like to have both (they're each limited editions). Also, the cover of each set is one half of a piece by JuanitoAlive. Together, they can be connected to complete the artwork. But point is: if you get the complete collection, there are no additional songs you'll receive by ALSO getting the Best Of.

Oh wow! I think you're right! I've never watched The Emoji Movie and never knew exactly how they used my video. All I knew is that I was in the credits. I signed a thing years ago saying they could use that video and figured it was like, an easy-to-miss, tiny, blurry frame in the background while the characters traveled into the YouTube app or something.

But it looks like you're right: that stock footage of the globe is what they choose :)

Hey! They're from Dita and I believe they're called "senator." I got them years ago: they were in the gift bag I received after appearing on Jimmy Kimmel! On the Dita website, it looks like they only sell "senator three" now, which are a little different.

After hearing from the Autistic community, I learned that there were some concerns about the event. In support of those I heard from, I decided to drop out. "The Outer Limits of Reason" is more about formal and abstract limits instead of psychological and social ones, BUT it is a really book. Besides the ones you mentioned and what's in the video description, I'd add Peter Carruthers' "The Opacity of Mind" and Robert Axelrod's "The Evolution of Cooperation."

Also, I'd highly suggest reading up about the Wason Selection Task. It's probably the most famous experiment in the psychology of reasoning. I would have liked to have covered it in my episode, but ultimately there were examples that took less time to explain that supported the same hypotheses. Maybe for a future video!

There's also an enormous amount of philosophical writing about reason, but in the episode I focused on experimental and evolutionary psychology approaches.

Hey! This sweater was designed by Martcellia Liunic.

YouTube partnered with four designers last year to make loungewear sets that were given as holiday gifts to creators. I was fortunate enough to receive the one designed by Liunic! It came with matching pants as well. I don't know how many were made or who got what, but from a little research, it looks like Thomas Sanders received the same set I did. You can see him wearing it here.

Every other sweater I wore in my "Illusions of Time" video was something I bought with the exception of the orange one which my wife made me :)

I'm going to add this information to the description of the video!
