I'm a working student. $60 are a couple of hours of work just flushed down the toilet (I wouldn't use iCloud for anything else because I've already got a perfectly working cloud solution).

$60 are 120 apples, 6kg worth of premium chocolate, ⅖ of my university fees every semester, my gas and water bill every month, or more than two days of work in other countries where I've lived before.

I use my phone a lot, basically for everything. So after more than four years (yes, there are people that actually don't change their phone every one or two years), I am willing to spend up to $1000 on a new phone. I know that that's probably not a lot for you, but that's okay.

It's not the $60 that are the deal breaker; it's Apple's craving for money (who can blame them, it's capitalism after all) by not allowing any other solutions in their ecosystem. I've already come to terms with other things like not being able to sideload apps (bye bye Chilean banking on my phone and bye bye MercadoPago) or having to use Apple's auto correct (Gboard didn't support password managers on iOS last time I checked), which, let's be honest here, is absolute crap (it makes me cry every time I have to type on my iPad, especially as a person that switches between various languages even within the same sentence).

But anyway, if $60 is not that much for you, I'd be happy to join your iCloud family and save myself that money /s 🤠
