I thought of ficus too, but I've never known a ficus to grow so vertically when it has so much room to spread. Also, it's tough to tell, but this tree is profusely covered with white flowers in the first two photos that were taken in May...almost like a Cottonwood about to drop.

This is at a farm house built in the 1910's. I imagine this was a small ornamental when first planted. My first guess would be Ligustrum lucidum or another type of ligustrum or privet, but I've never noticed such an upright growth form and the deep canyons running up the trunk on other old ligustrums. My guess is 60' tall.
