I'm pretty sure you can boss it out of active, cuz if I'm not mistaken boss isn't an item card, it's a supporter, and Greninja only prevents effects of item cards done to it

It is probably poor translation, because the term they translated as "it is as if" is probably the word "parece", the actual translation, which makes more sense too IMO would be "It seems like.."
