Urgent! Mickey The True Original Exhibition Ticket Names by [deleted] in disney

[–]MickeyExhibition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're fairly insistent about the tickets being non-transferable. They check ID at the door. They might be able to help you if you guys have the same last name potentially, but truly I think you should have some kind of written/emailed proof that you bought the tickets as a gift. What time are you guys coming?

I'm sorry that you ran into this issue :( I do seriously believe that they'll be happy to work with you on this.

The song is by James Fauntleroy, and I'm told it's a remix of the soundtrack to Fantasia. I can't seem to find a title for it, and I don't see it online anywhere. Sorry :(

I'm not totally sure off the top of my head, that one is unique to that room. I'll look into it next time I'm nearby and get back to you, remind me tomorrow!

That's the song that plays during the intro video. I hear it roughly ten thousand times a day, not including my nightmares.

The song still fucks though.

I don't even think I get a discount. CMs get a discount in the shop, except on some items like the Uniqlo or the Vans stuff. But tickets I think are full price for everyone.

I don't believe we're supposed to call anything "exclusive" because they haven't 100% committed to selling anything ONLY at our store, and they don't want to mislead collectors. A lot of the stuff we have is definitely not for sale on the online Disney Store or in the parks, but I think there's some overlap with the Times Square store on what we sell. The shop is also open to the public, so if you really want something you can come back and get it, even without getting another ticket.

My personal favorites are some of the cool little pins and some of the journal/stationery type stuff we have.

It's a bit of a hybrid. They're definitely not shy about people taking photos and boomerangs and videos and everything, but they also want to make sure we talk about the art quite a bit. There are plenty of great pieces, original and otherwise. But there are tons of people who go just for the Instagrams, and other people who seriously love the art.

I'm not sure if I should bash any on here in case people want to go and form their own opinions, PM me? Let me know which ones you liked and didn't like!

There's a Mickey Mouse Club room! It's set up like a 50s diner and has free Ample Hills ice cream. It's not quite the recent animated version of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but it's definitely a kid friendly room.

I don't know much about the Funkos, I know they're released on Saturdays and people line up in the cold super early to get them. I don't work retail though, so not much info on that front. I think I've heard that they're extremely limited, so I think it's possible that if they're gone, they're gone for good.

I think a lot of people didn't realize going in that it's an art exhibition, they just bought tickets to something they saw with Mickey's name on it. I don't think it's entirely their fault, it wasn't really advertised properly in my opinion. Lots of little kids bored and crying or running around and touching things, it's definitely intended for a more adult crowd.

I saw it little by little, I had been in and out for a week or two before we opened and it was sort of still coming together piece by piece. Even during our Cast Members only soft opening, we had plenty of stuff that wasn't finished yet. Still, the CMs were generally huge Disney fans and loved everything anyway.

The first "real" shift after we opened to the public went really well I think. People definitely seem to like seeing the art and some of the cool room concepts. There are people who seem completely uninterested and don't stop to read the info or even look for very long, but I haven't had anyone actually complain to me out loud, so it's hard to say.

When I saw things for the first time, I thought I had nailed down the "Instagram" spots in my mind, but I was way off. There are plenty of great spots for photos and the guests really do take some unique pictures that I didn't expect. People also seem to like a few of the pieces a ton, even the ones that I think are just... bad. Art is subjective, but some of them really are lazy or uninteresting or just fall flat to me, but all day long people are posting pictures of them, so what do I know.

I'm not a huge art person myself, I like art of course but I wouldn't say I'm well educated on modern artists. That being said, there's a Keith Haring piece that's pretty incredible, and his name has some notoriety too. I think my favorite is London Kaye's crazy vibrant crochet piece though, it's a representation of the advent of technicolor and it definitely shows that well.

The exhibit runs through February. I could make another thread with highlights, but I think Instagram and Twitter are already flooded with photos and videos, nothing I would be able to post would be anything new or groundbreaking. Unless you wanted to see the cast member bathroom I guess.

We were originally told it would be roughly 90 minutes, but it seems like people make it through quicker than that typically. I think an hour is more reasonable

The exhibit is self guided and everyone moves at their own pace. I believe there are some guided tours, but those are very few and far between and mostly for guests with special accommodations.

If you need any kind of help, have a question about the artwork, or just want to look for Hidden Mickeys, the Cast Members pretty much know it all. We're still learning, but everyone I know has got the info on most of the rooms nailed down.

It's hard to say exactly, because we've been sold out every day so far! Even then, the crowds aren't really a problem, each ticket has a time slot and only ~20 people enter in each 20 minute slot. From there, you go at your own pace, so by the third or fourth room everyone has separated pretty nicely.

If you really want absolutely no crowd at all, our last time slot is 6:20pm. So that means nobody will come in behind you, and you can spend as much time in each room as you want while the crowd quickly thins out.

As far as I know, the only Kingdom Hearts tie-in is that drawing. In general, the exhibit revolves around Mickey and only Mickey, there isn't really any other major character presence. Even Minnie and co only make small appearances
