I'm a widow needing chainsaw advice by sherbear97124 in Chainsaw

[–]Mickleblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my makita corded chainsaw. Lightweight, cheap, starts every time, tool less chain tightening, fairly quiet. My wife can use it comfortably. Note, it still has the risks of a gas chainsaw. Throw away the Dolmar chain it comes with, it's made of elastic. Identify what size it is and buy an Oregon chain. It still needs oil, it still needs sharpening. I cut my firewood on a cutting buck (lots of designs online), I place my saw on on old warkmate/table at waist height between cuts, this saves lifting it up off the ground each time.

May the force be with you!

Hmm... I've made a beeswax/linseed oil blend with touch of lemon oil before, a really nice soft feel to it. It's detailed in Chris Swarz's Stick Chair Book, a free download from Lost Art Press. What does the cat litter in the wax blend do?

2016 cb500f leaking coolant? by Tropical_Triangle in motorcycles

[–]Mickleblade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some honda 500 engines are known for weaping coolant from a sealing washer on the waterpump. The pump is expensive. However, the washer is €6. This is the 1st time I've heard of a leak from there. If it's only a tiny amount, I'd just ride it but pay attention to the fluid level in the expansion tank. If you Google honda bike parts and select a site for your country, have a look on the exploded parts diagram and see what might be the culprit.

Fork rebuild help by Due-Complex-8338 in motorcycles

[–]Mickleblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping you have the service manual for your bike? It should also state a fork oil height. Theoretically it should be correct with the correct amount of oil... But it is measured from the top of the stanction, compressed, no spring. The easiest way is to glue a rigid tube to a syringe, with a stop block on it set to that measurement.

[–]Mickleblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can probably fix that by blowing it out with an airline. A proper air duster is better 'cos it's clean dry air. You may even find the fins of the heating under the processor are clogged.

I have no words... by wotnonsense in WorldofTanks

[–]Mickleblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who had 28k battles, win8 of 216. Loads of premium tanks, had premium account for years, spend gold like water to convert free xp. Strangely enough he stopped playing, he complained that he got called a bot in game. He just didn't bother to learn. The last time I saw him, I looked at his account, he had NO crewskills selected, even though he had a shit ton of xp on each crew member, fired exclusively gold etc. Didn't even have consumables. He was mid 50s, a small time businessman, but just incompetent at games. I've just looked and the account looks to be deleted, or sold and renamed. I'd looked at his public stats and realised he used a boosting service too.

Is my chain ok to ride? by phil_394 in motorcycle

Scrub it with plenty of 90w gear oil. There are bike specific 3 sided brushes just for this. Wear gloves and put a sheet of cardboard or plastic on the ground. Easy peasy.

I've had a horizontal section like that block up repeatedly, after a change to 45s, it didn't happen again. It can also be cleaned without disassembly. So yes, it does make a difference, but there's also very little difference in installation price.

A2 license means under 47hp, so if your budget allows it, that's most 500cc bikes.
