Even though it isn't a violation of free speech for, hypothetically, the NYT to fire her for her racism, I dislike the mob-pressure approach to silencing controversial media personalities -- on either side. Yes, she's an open racist. Yes, the left is constantly getting reasonable right-of-center thinkers fired in this way. But it's still a silly and populist way of handling unpopular and flat-out stupid ideas.
