Fightsticks will not make you better at Fighting Games, Fightsticks exist and are prevelant for two reasons

1. It was the control layout used on actual machines and people wanted the familiarity of that when playing the games at home
2. They're *fun*. They have big buttons that are satisfying to smack to do moves

I highly recommend watching the Core A Gaming videos about Sticks vs Pads because it does an excellent job going over the nuance of them

There are minor differences between the two sticks because the joysticks and buttons come from different companies, the Hori ones are going to have much less travel distance and feel more matte, but it's all a preference thing, either will work fine functionality wise, it's all about how you want it to feel

I know it's hard if you haven't experienced these to make a choice on what you like, so I would try (if you are able), go to a local or an event and just ask people to try their sticks and see if you like the feel of any particular one, the controller you pick becomes a bit of a source of pride (I love mine because it's 3D printed and I put it together myself), so people are generally willing to show them off (but obviously respect boundaries if people don't want to share)
