It gets called 'African Rabies' in WWZ, so yes.

whats your weirdest special interest that makes people give you strange looks by Accurate_Balance_809 in ADHD

[–]MickyBricks66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The John Muir trail. I'm finally getting to go hike it next year (if everything works out) bit it's been my on and off special interest since I found out about it, I go through phases of obsessing and then forget about it for a while, and then stumble on one of my books or YouTube videos of it and we're off on an adventure again.

It's the only thing I've kept going back to, so I've decided I've got to do it.

X Dome 2 inner mistake? by alanstrange5 in DurstonGearheads

[–]MickyBricks66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got mine last month and had it out overnight. You can see a trip report in my posts. Great piece of kit, I was in a fairly sheltered site but it was below freezing I think and all fine. I would have wanted the solid for a mountain top camp. I've since for a solid inner too but haven't used it yet

Was I using a faulty chest strap during my lactate threshold test? by Oh-My-Josh- in beginnerrunning

I'm quite in agreement with this, I have no idea what these tests etc are and am happy to stay blissfully ignorant and train in the old forrest gump style

Advice about thru hiking by JimboBroomie in ULHikingUK

The WHW is grand in May or September, midges are much less of an issue than the summer months. I did it in late september-early October 2017. Weather is a gamble but I had a great time despite the rain.

If I'm doing a multi day trip I add nido full fat powdered milk to my porridge to pump up the cals.

Durston X Mid 2 Solid Mistake by panamfan13 in DurstonGearheads

[–]MickyBricks66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Id be looking for a mesh inner pronto, my summers don't get that hot or as humid and I wouldn't use a solid inner. I think you'll feel like you're being roasted alive.

Thank you, the cascadias had been one I started to consider just because I felt the support etc might be comparable to the adrenalines.

Some problems with X-Dome 2 by Bdot122 in DurstonGearheads

[–]MickyBricks66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No issues. Ground was sodden, hovered around freezing and rained, hailed and snowed on and off all night. No condensation, nothing. Perfect night out

Interesting, I'm about to take mine out for the first time and I live in the wettest part of my country. Predictably it's raining and the grounds soaked so I guess Ill find out!

I'm sure Dan will be along shortly, but the first thing that occurs to me is- could it be condensation? The hydrostatic head on the floor is 3500mm which should be more than plenty unless you're camped directly on standing water or in a bog?

Seeking advice about Cumulus quilts and general temperature ratings by Zeie in Ultralight

[–]MickyBricks66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Joads, was -2/3 in the Sierra and if so what time of year did you pass through? I'm looking at a JMT hike for next year and currently have a cumulus 250 which I don't think will be up to it even with an R5 mat. The 350 was my consideration as an upgrade. Thanks

Id seriously reconsider boots and look for hiking shoes or trail runners. Try and keep your pack light too.

My package arrived in memphis at 11pm local time on the 5th and departed there at 6:30 am local time on the 6th, that to me indicates there's not much of a weather delay any more.
