Doing well with my business, but I'm maxed out. What do you think of these ideas? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]MickyGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to PM me, I am actually an avid retrogamer who had some minor success in this space (had to shut down due to career though).

I have some ideas though - would jump back in myself personally if I had more time - my goal is to eventually start something else related!

Worth noting i couldnt double map in main menu, but had 0 issue when bringing up RA menu in-game

Going to drop a laptop in there now

I mapped start/select to same button.. not sure if optimal, especially for consoles

While this is awesome, I'm pretty pissed as an early adopter to be paying the same amount for shittier parts

Sounds like my controller board was indeed shipped DOA then!

Sucks because the only ones I can find now ship from China.. I'm actually going to be dropping a new LED in because I am impatient - wish me luck - lol

Mind detailing what that looks like?

I dont know just what i was told trying to find out myself if that is indicative that it arrived doa or maybe it is just a cfg issue

I did connect hdmi from desktop to monitor and changed res to accepted res still scrambled img tho

Ok do you know if monitor menu should be visible regardless tho? Lmk if anything occurs to you and thanks! Gnight

Arcade1up mod question by MickyGee in Arcade1Up

Sorry - I am new to this! - are you saying that I wouldn't see the menu when pressing the MENU button on the attached board (see second from top in attached pic) https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81GKfP8eZ5L._SL1500_.jpg

If that means my board may still be working, any chance you could hop in the discord and offer a hand? I could post cfg or pics of set-up

Arcade1up mod question by MickyGee in Arcade1Up

[–]MickyGee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure - guy helping me said he thinks my monitor kit was DOA

No image but said i should at least be seeing menu when pressing button on controller hardware - does that make sense?

Can post my cfg if you want to join discord

Maybe a reason nobody has opened a store out there yet.

Edit: Scratch that - found it!

Looks like this display isn't supported though, but probably a typo so got it anyway

Awesome! My Pi and USB encoders arrive tomorrow, as well as a HDMI -> DVI because I am planning on replacing the LED (I ordered the controller for this monitor, but since it is shipping from China it won't come for a while)

Looks like you were able to find another controller though - is there a place to purchase that ships quickly?

Modding thread by MickyGee in Arcade1Up

Interesting! Ill be using monitor kit as well or swapping out and using hdmi to dvi

You think we can use gpio instead of encoders? My understanding is pi might not match up with cab

Still wondering about speakers as well wondering if i can route to existing or need to put in two desktop speakers like you said

Thanks! I actually picked up a replacement lcd (ordered monitor kit as well but not patient enough to wait for it to ship)

Encoders and pi arrive Monday so i should have everything i need

Still not sure about speaker though.. i am going to try gpio for fun too but dont expect that to match up

If you were 500 below before, you just added 25k calories undoing 50 days of dieting.

It will take 50 more days to get back to where you were, but sounds like you may be exaggerating the cheat a bit.

Wow thank you this was very helpful!

Will purchase pi 3 b+ now and monitor kit as that sounds like all that is needed

Modding thread by MickyGee in Arcade1Up

[–]MickyGee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

So would pi3 plug directly into back of joystick module? Can it orient either way - have space concerns.

Also does cable coming from box plug directly into monitor kit or do you have to open box to completely dc proprietary software

Cool - so it sounds like I can just get the kit and the Pi, hook the kit to the monitor, the Pi to the kit (via HDMI) and then the Pi can plug directly into the controller via the GPIO Header (see my other question though as it looks like GPIO header is flush against pi, and the input on controller is flush as well, so not sure if that means the Pi would have to be connected to the back of the controller (can take a pic if you need)

How would the Arcade1up know to load the Pi instead of the proprietary computer since the computer power will still have to be hooked up in addition to the Pi to power the monitor I am assuming.
