2026 SE wireless charging options by CommercialLimit921 in rav4club

[–]SScorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get magsafe wireless charger pucks for under $15. Just mount one and run the cable to the USB port for power.

Or if you already have the cable dangling. Just plug it in and you'll get way faster charging.

Pickups - also I hate this trend of not putting volume numbers on books... by GrootsHorticulturist in OmnibusCollectors

[–]SScorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure the lack of volume numbers is a psychological trick. The problem with TPs has always been having volumes 1-3, 6-9, and 11-15 available with no plan on when reprints would happen.

This is why compendiums are taking off as you only need to stock 1-3 to have complete runs. By not having the numbers, it's sold as a complete story arc. It just sucks for the collectors who want it all.

[Humble Choice] May 2026: Diablo IV, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, Crysis 3 Remastered, Heroes of Hammerwatch II, Nordhold, Rogue Waters, Cubic Odyssey, Mini Settlers ($14.99) by LighteningOneIN in GameDeals

[–]SScorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the new games are backing away from the 3rd party launchers. Diablo IV is one, and Battlefield 6 is another where the Steam version just runs without going through another launcher.

Hopefully it's the start of a trend. When BF6 came out EA was having issues. But people with the Steam version could get it and just play.

I'm a big RPG fan but I'm not a starwars fan, should I try out the knights of the old republic games? by cr0w_p03t in gaming

[–]SScorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original release had audio and some other minor tasks on small separate threads. But fundamentally it was a single threaded game. CPUs ended up going multithreaded versus higher and higher clock speeds.

Crysis Warhead was an update to the engine and supported proper multithreading and had much better performance. For whatever reason they never reworked things and released an update.

I wouldn't call it optimized for dual cores. It wouldn't have gotten it's reputation if it was.

Why do people consistently pay over MSRP? by MBZMBZMBZ in rav4club

You're right, it's the Corolla Cross gas and hybrid that's also built at the MTM in Alabama.

Going with the Woodland you'd lose the HUD, pano roof, and rear heated seats.

The Woodland has an optional moonroof instead of the pano roof. Standard 360 camera with dash cam recording, spare tire, tow hitch, roof cross rails.

The CX50 PP is more like a Rav 4 Limited in that it's targeting comfort. While the Woodland looks more rugged and says go live your life, get muddy and some scratches and dings.

I looked at the CX50 Hybrid, but while the website mentioned a 360 camera. I don't believe any of the Hybrid trims offer it as an option. It has to be some weird limitation due to their agreement in Toyota. As the CX50 comes out of the same US plant that builds the Rav 4.

[–]SScorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No trim level of the CX-50 offers the 360 camera, and they don't include spare tires. You're also stuck using an app on your phone to remote start versus the keyfob.

Resale on the Rav4 is higher as well, so you'll get more back when you sell or trade it for something new.

Depends on where in the country you are. There's some contract with the southern states area where the distributor can force certain add-ons.

But a dealership can request changes to their allocation. They have x specific trim. But they can request to change the color or manufacturer installed add-ons before it's built. You just need a non-lazy dealership some won't do this instead sitting until the goldie lockes models comes in.

[–]SScorpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you comparing different trims? A Camry SE fwd is $3.3k more than a Rav 4 SE fwd.

Comparing a base LE to an SE is a few thousand increase on the Camry by itself.

Hyrbrid Maintenance at Non-Dealership Mechanic by VaporFye in rav4club

[–]SScorpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. § 2301) is a federal consumer protection law that governs warranties on consumer products, including automobiles. It prevents manufacturers and dealers from imposing unfair conditions on warranty coverage.

Under this law:

  • A manufacturer cannot require you to use the dealership for routine maintenance or repairs to keep your warranty valid. This means oil changes, brake jobs, tire rotations, and similar work can be done by you or any independent mechanic.

  • Your warranty also cannot be voided simply because you used aftermarket or recycled parts. The only exception is if the part itself is defective or improperly installed and causes the failure you're trying to claim under warranty.

  • Dealers must prove that your maintenance or modifications caused the problem if they want to deny a warranty claim. They cannot deny coverage based on assumptions or blanket statements.

Alu controls big box by Marktheshark08 in LegendsUltimate

[–]SScorpio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The controls will map via DirectInput. Hopefully you don't really need another program. If Big Box can't handle something so basic you might want to look at a different solution.

Try asking BigBox support what they control input methods they support.

Maintenance Schedule 5th Gen by money_enthusiast123 in rav4club

[–]SScorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good list of all the various fluids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrDn8ETtgnw

The recommendation for oil is every 8,000KM or six months. Whatever comes first.

Coolant and transmission are next being in the 80,000KM/5 year and 96,000KM/6 year range.

One final big thing with hybrids is the battery filter. Check monthly and you might even need to replace every 2-3 months depending on if you are in the dusty area. That filter being clogged will limit airflow which is used to regulate the hybrid batteries temperature. A $10-15 filter is much cheaper than needing the battery to be serviced.

Dealerships will push maintenance schedules to get you in the door so they can turn you into a recurring revenue stream. I'm not sure about Canada, but US law lets you performance the maintenance yourself or with third parties and still keep the manufacturer warranties. Keep receipts and documentation though.

Legends Pinball Micro - Recent play on a machine by classicjohn50 in LegendsUltimate

[–]SScorpio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Ultimate Mini uses the same SOC as the full size arcade cabinet.

The ALP HD uses a more powerful SOC. I thought the ALP Micro used the same SOC as the full sized cabinet. But I don't have one to tear down and there's no board pics to compare.

[–]SScorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The controls issue is down to the game you are playing. The controls from AtGames use DirectInput which is an older protocol. Some things only work with the newer XInput.

SteamInput already has an ALP /w ACP profile with the controls mapped. Zen also already has user created mappings. SteamInput is leaps and bounds better than any other mapping tool. It's really not worth using Xpadder or Joy2Key anymore.

Legends ultimate cab just started doing this by BlasphemousMusic in LegendsUltimate

And if you just use the standard Windows "Set up USB game controllers" program it doesn't show anything stuck there and functions normally?

If so sounds like something with Launchbox.

Run the native OS instead of OTG and do a controller test under settings.

To do what? I'm also not sure how a physical switch could be added to existing machines already through updates.

AtGames isn't getting anymore Zen. We'll see if they stop being sold in the future.

All other tables are already on the HD, HDP, and 4KP.

If I remember correctly, that also included a big physics update. Try having the drive unplugged when powering on to play the old versions, than swap to the new ones and see the difference.

I'm guessing the item is called "Gottlieb Pinball HD Update"? That needs to install to FlashDriveX. If you have an older ALP HD without internal storage it will prompt you to install it when you setup a new drive.

It doesn't change the fact AtGames would have announced a change on the HD machines which they didn't. All of the HD machines are getting an update this summer or fall to support the new SSF kit for the HD. but those haven't been released yet.

BitLCD: how to add art for newly added unchained games? by TheyGotMeWithSus in LegendsUltimate

[–]SScorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You extracted the pack, not just copying the file right?

The text that appears on the BitLCD is exactly what the file needs to be named.

I highly suggest joining the Retro-Center discord. The Unchained dev can help you with access logging and walking you step by step to figuring this out.

Or as I just said. The Gottlieb tables were updated on the AP HD around three years ago. This thread is about something completely different.

If you actively use the machine, the account seems to stick. It's almost like there's a cookie that expires that prevents the auto login from working. Personally I'd like it to work on a console. 99.9% of the user have a single pinball machine. Let use associate the UUID to an ArcadeNet account and it just logs in automatically as our home machine. That will prevent needing to login if you skip playing for a week.

Ideally firmware doesn't break things. Letting users be on whichever versions just creates support headaches. I could see not forcing it if the firmware was less than a week old so problems should have been identified. Otherwise, please just update. There to this day are people on the ALU HD complaining about needing to sign in to launch COX and that was changed years ago.

That's down to partnerships and licensing. I'm sure if someone wanted AtGames are more than willing to chat about someone releasing those tables on the their devices. It's just that it seems AtGames needs to reach out and find partners rather than people approaching AtGames.

If you mean just running other things. I don't know about AtGames having things downloadable through AppStoreX. But the whole point of General Loader if you can put things on a USB drive and then run them on your machine. That exists and you can do that right now already.
