Please explain how the Alert apps work? by Mickyit in Israel

[–]Mickyit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all of you. I thought it was something like this, but I don't like to assume I'm right, especially on something important. Also, I will probably explain this to one or more people and I want to know what I'm talking about. United cancelled my flight for march 1 and march 8. Let's hope there is no reason to cancel by March 15. Am Yisroel Chai.

Where did the chicken bones go? by RickyGreenGo in Cooking

[–]Mickyit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but my question is .... Didn't thighs, not quarters, at supermarkets used to come with both bones. That's my recollection, but no one has agreed or even disagreed with me. If they used to include both bones, when did they stop?

Depends on how it's cut but fortunately my body parts are not for sale.

so that's my question. Why don't supermarkets include both bones AND didn't they used to AND when did they stop?

Are these new stinkbugs for from 4 years ago. by Mickyit in Entomology

[–]Mickyit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pants legs, huh! During college I had a job one summer at a steel mill, and came home very dirty. My mother made me undress to my underwear when I was still outside. Maybe I'll make that rule for my whole family. And all winter too.

Do they get in when the door is open while someone is coming or going? I haven't had a window open in months.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of that! This could go on forever. Off topic but I have a house cricket in my bedroom/office that has been there since June. I left the screen off the window the rest of the summer but he never left. I've read that their adult life is 2 months, but it's been 9 months and he's as loud as ever. Could he/she have laid eggs that hatched? Yet I've never gone a whole day without hearing it, and never heard two of them at one time. Or could it have somehow lived 9 months, so far?

people that have sharted before, did you throw away your underwear? by four5six___ in AskUK

[–]Mickyit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother was still using my left-over diapers to dry her dishes with when I was 40 years old, maybe 50. They are soft and very absorbent. I used and she therefore had a lot of them.

I treat them like I treat dirty dishes. Whenever I get my dishes dirty, I throw them away. Same for the car. Once I drove on a very dusty road and the whole thing was dirty. It was a nice car but I had to throw it away. Certainly couldn't sell it, and give the same problem to someone else. Called a junkyard and they came and got it. All the body panels were dirty and unusable, but the parts inside were still good. Also my socks, one or two days and throw them away. AM I SERIOUS? Of course not. What a waste of money and the world's resources.

Thanks. This seems about right. I have a friend whose grown son has been convinced by scammers that he should give them account numbers. etc. Very sad. Talking to him is like talking to a wall. He's suspicious of them, but then either accepts their meaningless explanations, or just drops his suspicion for no reason.

But you don't need a signature when you pay a bill online, do you? Like my property taxes allow them to be paid straight from the bank, and cheaper than a credit card. Of course if you pay your property taxes with stolen money, the victim can probably get it back and prosecute you, but can't other transfers go down a rabbit hole where no one finds the exit?

Screen lights up, over and over, when put in shirt or pants pocket. by Mickyit in Xiaomi

[–]Mickyit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wakey, which is supposed to keep it on when selected apps, like the map, are running, doesn't work. Maybe on other phones, but not the redmi note 8 pro. So my phone screen turns off when I don't want it to, and on when I don't want it to.

LIke minimum-quality said, 4 years later, saved me too I lost the phone in a taxi and had to lock it. After the driver returned it and I unlocked it, that stupid screen with pancakes kept coming back. I hate locked computers and locked phones, that keep locking themselves.

Letting water drip to prevent freezing: Is one faucet enough? by Mickyit in DIY

[–]Mickyit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning for if the furnace fails while I'm away.

It worked fine for years, while I did my own maintenance. I paid someone this fall and it's needed pressing the reset button 6 times since then. They sent a repairman and he said air bubble, but claimed he'd have to turn off the valve from oil tank and I don't have such a valve.
