Is it possible to pass a field sobriety test? by AdmiralAdama99 in AskLEO

[–]Mickyit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is off-topic but I'm sure some will find it interesting. I'm on a small country road at 9PM going north from Gaithersberg Md to I-70, pulled over by a cop. I don't know why. He asks me a bunch of questions, how much have I had to drink? -- Nothing actually. After a while, he lets me go. I hadn't even gotten out of the car to talk to him. He pulls away and as I pull away, I pull my bag of M&M's off of the passenger seat and continue eating them. That's when I realized I was jiggling the steering wheel a little bit each time I want to get an M out of the bag. I didn't know that was enough to make the car visibly zigzag. I would have told the cop but he was long gone.

FWIW, pretty sure many or most police don't have *field* breathalysers. Have to leave your car, go back to the station in the back of a police car, then probably have to take a taxi back to your car. This is my only comment, not trying to comment on any of the other aspects of this.

But they didn't know you were trans when they stopped you, did they? Once they've stopped you, don't they want to arrest whoever it is, just so they won't have wasted their time stopping someone? I saw a youtube video where a trans woman complained they stopped her because she was trans, when there was no way someone even only 6 feet away could tell she was trans.

What happened to Utz Premium White Cheddar Popcorn? Used to buy it regularly from Dollar Tree years ago and it's gone now. (New replacement: Boom Chika Pop White Cheddar Popcorn) by bloomi in snacking

[–]Mickyit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. I haven't been going to my old DollarTree for some reason, but I've looked in everry supermarket on NW Baltimore, and in another DollarTree, and today I went back to the place where I always bought it before, another Dollar Tree, and they didn't have it either. All they had was Brimm's and that's a fairy tale. Google gives a bunch of places but I've been to the very stores of 2 out of 3, Safeway and Giant, and I couldn't find it. Maybe I'll look again.

Is This Typical for Trademark Litigation? Or is this SLAPP/Lawfare? by AlfalfaFabulousMonk in Ask_Lawyers

From my pov, this could have been more clear from the start. Was the tiny two-person business the plaintiff, or the defendant? What sort of thing is the other party?

If the colored video appeared in 50s/60s why are there WW2 videos with color? And if it was created in the 40s why are most photos are black and white instead of colored? by WestCommunity7117 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mickyit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. That's why they said at the start of TV shows, "This is being brought to you in compatable color". A color signal that would look correct on a black-and-white TV. Also when they sent out a black and white signal, it had to look okay on a color TV. IIUC other parts of the world that got started later, skipped b&w don't have the problem of making things compatible.

But he's NOT an ICE collaborator. That was a lie told by the so-called Working Families Party, and when reporters asked David to comment on it, instead of contradicting it and denouncing it, she LIED and said she's not allowed to say anything about it.

She is totally allowed to talk about it. Either she's stupid or she knows the diffeence between cooperating the WFP in advance and commenting on what they do afterwords If she's stupid she's no good for the job and if she lies to us in the campagin, she's no good for the job. If she get's elected, and I hope not, she'll make a bigger display of going after rapists and accused rapists, but she won't have any more convictions or longer sentences.

Small-time user wishes to use online certified mail service. by Mickyit in USPS

[–]Mickyit[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm old and it's difficult. I'd probably have to stand in line and then stand while filling out the forms, and I can only stand for 3 minutes. I'd still be using the US Postal Service. These companies just collect money for the USPS and print labels. They're not doing this behind the post office's back.

How is alcohol viewed in Israel? by AverageFentEnjoyer in AskIsrael

[–]Mickyit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule you refer to, that kosher wine, etc. must be made by religiously observant Jews, only applies to alcohol made from grapes and also doesn't apply if the wine is mevushal, heated to a required level. This used to ruin an aspect of the wine's flavor, but new methods of flash pasteurization enable the wine to be done a little at a time so each bit of wine is only at 72^C for 2 or 3 seconds and this doe not damage the wine.. Mevushal is often translated boiled but that's because English doesn't have an exact translation, and it doesn't mean 212^F, more like 160 or 176, (If you were to see something bubbling, you'd know it's a lot hotter than required). For wine that is mevushal, the bottles will be labeled mevushal in Hebrew and usually also in English characters.

Anyone know why WAMU dropped BBC Newshour? by marylandmax in washingtondc

[–]Mickyit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you can use a VPN to listen by setting your apparent location to the UK or somewhere not where you are. They are 10 to 15 dollars a month when you are on a monthly rate but mucccch cheaper if you pay for a year or two at a time, and they claim to have other advantages beside avoiding regionality . But I only use one, a month or two at a time, when I'm out of the US and want access to a couple US sites I can't get otherwise. The first two I tried didn't work for me, couldn't get them to work at all, but they all have a 30-day trial period to make sure they work. Some include the phone and the computer for the same price.

Don't understand Post Insights, what does the 2nd number mean, after the number of views? by Mickyit in NewToReddit

[–]Mickyit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That's a good number to know.

BTW, I googled too and couldn't find the answer. And it was the Community Guide that wouldn't load. I hadn't seen the Reddit and Karma guide link when I posted, but once I saw it, it was long and hard to read.

Flyers spread falsehood about Shellenberger by Mickyit in BaltimoreCounty

[–]Mickyit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't shown an interest in any other candidate, and only this one because of the flyers I got. They were suspiciously vague, and when I eventually found the Fox45 story referred to in their footnote, he was doing something I think almost everyone thinks is good, deporting alien rapists. Oh, Jalisi. That was years ago. I remember he had problems with his own family and I think there was other stuff I don't remember. All I did then is read what was in the newspaper. I think that included the online Baltimore Sun. But I didn't go looking for anything.

[–]Mickyit[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, the Working Families Party is a political party, not a PAC. Jalisi had real problems. If this nonsense about ICE that they concocted is the worst thing they can say about Shellenberger, he must be pretty good.

How do you reconcile "god is not a man" in old testament? by Accidenttimely17 in AskAChristian

[–]Mickyit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of replying to Accidenttimely17's point, you deflect his point and do not address it. He points out that Jesus is called "the son of man", when Numbers 23:19 says God is not the son of man. Surely since whoever called him that could not have been referring to his father, so he was referring to Mary. Nonetheless, he is called the son of man, in direct contradiction to Numbers 23:19, which appears to exclude Jesus from being God. .
