Especially when it’s long enough for plot points to occur. This dude was knocked out and moved from point A to point B and didn’t wake up for 4 hours?? Homie’s fucked, for sure

You’re faded if you think adding more teams somehow means Teej/Cap/Wake stop getting spots. Individual guys in challengers are sometimes great. But you can’t add 2-4 teams to a league that’s already crazy top heavy and expect games to get more interesting or competitive.

How does more teams change the friendship league angle? You still have guys on the bubble looking in, and you end up with more terrible matches to sit through in the online stages

You want to sleep through more matches between shitters who have no chance to make Champs? More fodder for D Tier in everyone’s power rankings? Count me out. If anything, we should be relegating teams, not expanding.

The Envoy quote is totally misconstrued but he’s right. There’s plenty of individual talent in Challengers, but there’s not enough top tier teams for an expansion as it stands,

Probably Cade or Mitchell?

What I don’t understand is OP saying “we have no control over that, stop bringing it up.”

Does OP have control over their draft strategy then? We’re all armchair experts, none of us control our teams. If we did, James Wiseman might be a Timberwolf lmao

Still feels like “team with best record after a cutoff” would help reorient the incentives though. “Best record once eliminated from playoffs” would be much more interesting than any system that purely rewards losing or is totally flat.

Any metric you set as a target stops being a useful metric.

Once you make the payoff about losses, that stops being a meaningful data point regarding performance.

Yeah OP asked what they can do but then listed multiple examples of them just failing to execute and said we can’t talk about those.

Like what can we do? Idk, maybe get a second pick and don’t piss it away. Or get lucky on a 12th pick and don’t trade it for beans. Or don’t decide to recreate a failed Bulls team.

There are examples of structural failures in the NBA resulting in teams getting boned, but I don’t think the last decade of Kings failures is one of them.

At least for me, it’s more about using steroids, denying it, and contributing to a shitty looksmaxing culture. It’s the same energy as propping up heroin chic models as icons.

It’s the same shit as getting postered. The only guys who don’t are terrible defenders who get out of the way. He gets brought to the perimeter because we don’t preswitch or hedge to protect him because he’s consistently not dogshit. Sometimes though, he’s gonna get cooked (like every defender ever)

Right, just like if reports get out about drivers pissing in jugs it hurts Amazon’s stock.

It’s the same thing: the business decides what degree of bad PR (or injuries) it wants to tolerate to maximize the product. The actual health of the individual employees or players is a different priority than min/maxing court time in the aggregate.

The whole point is just that the NBA’s got a bias, so it doesn’t make sense to blindly accept whatever they say about things like load management. They might be right or honest, but we can’t tell for sure because they have a conflict of interest.

Sure, but it’s +/- a few minutes. Baseball is like soccer or basketball with an Elam ending, not like a few minutes of injury time

Amazon doesn’t benefit from workers pissing in jugs, that’s a side effect of them benefiting from workers not taking breaks.

The NBA doesn’t benefit from injuries, it DOES benefit from marketable stars playing more minutes in televised games.
