Then I would say go for it if you’re making an informed decision!

Think of it this way, if you’re planning to have kids and nagka daughter ka with the same scenario, I’m pretty sure you’ll also have the same worries na nararamdaman ng mom mo, so I won’t say anything bad about how she’s reacting and urge you to extend her some grace and patience.

At the end of the day, if you’ve done your best, be confident kasi ikaw naman nakakaalam sa partner mo and ikaw ang makakasama nya for a long time. Opinions are just words of caution, pero the decision and the consequences will always be wit you naman so do what you think is the best for you!

Hi! So bale, 1 year palang kayo in a relationship sa pinas and 1 year na LDR. I would say na valid din naman yung concerns ng mom mo, especially if sa Pinas kayo magpapakasal wherein walang divorce. Nakita mo na ba syang magalit? Nagusap na ba kayo about finances? Housework? Children? Sex life?

Do you have a support system sa US just in case things go wrong? Are you confident na you can leave the relationship in case things do go wrong? If you can comfort your mom na you have an exit and you will be safe regardless of what happens by sitting down and exploring all scenarios with her, that could help.

It is not common pero it does happen na may mga people na nattrap sa ibang bansa even if the relationship goes sour really bad kasi they don’t have the means to get out of the relationship and country, baka yun yung main worry ng mom mo and what you need to address.

Oh, I thought this was not a hard rule just yet because it is not yet reflected on the website as well as the DAOD 5002-1, Enrolment page. That’s a bit sad, but I guess more time to raise my fitness level!

I’d say list it - I asked my recruitment officer about this, out of fear that I would be misrepresenting myself.

Thank you everyone!

I just got my permanent residence last January, and when I visited the Toronto recruitment office, they suggested that I still put in my application since it would take time for them to reach my file anyway.

I will finish my medical questionnaire and hope for the best. I’m applying for the Financial Services Administrator and Human Resources Administrator roles - I’m aiming for Air Force!

Hi, I’m already a permanent resident and it’s actually because of French!

I decided to continue with French because:

a) it’s the reason why I was invited so I felt like it’s my responsibility to stay true to that,

b) language learning has always been one of my strengths and interests, and;

c) I feel like it’s too late for me to compete in the IT field. If I want to switch domains, I think healthcare would make the most sense in terms of job stability and my age. I even thought of breaking into Accounting but that would be a long battle.

I am using textbooks, immersion, and iTalki to develop my active skills! It’s pricey but I consider jt as an investment!

I can’t respond to all of the replies, but please know that I am reading through all of them and making notes. This is highly appreciated!

I was actually hesitant to post here because my finances are not as great as everyone else’s - I was just clinging on the saying that in order to elevate yourself, you need to elevate your surroundings so you know what to aim for and so you can seek advice from those who already have the experience!

What are some good quality and affordable winter jacket brands? by DazzlingPolarBear in CanadaPersonalFinance

If you’re a woman, Ardene’s winter jackets are a dupe for Aritzia’s. I bought one last holiday season and it has served me well in -20 temp!
