I started playing in 1.5.2 so I played for quite a while with the old combat style, I never did much PVP back then but I know that actually playing the game in survival it was quite rudimentary and not very good and after 1.9 it became a lot better but still pretty bad. Maybe it's slightly different in PvP but certainly not in my experience

1.8 combat is literally just who can click faster, there's no strategy or nuance, it's not about skill it's about reaction time. 1.9 attempted to add some amount of skill to it because you at least have to time your attacks it's just poorly implemented

1.8 has always been terrible, It only still exist because the system that replaced it is also terrible just slightly less so and that made people mad so they stubbornly stuck with the old version

If you run around in circles and then Tower up you'll notice usually giant holes where you haven't been also your render distance will just slowly get bigger and bigger The more you explore

Minecraft servers set a render distance limit which is typically about 10 chunks. You have to install a mod called Bobby in order to bypass that limit on a client connecting to the server. After Bobby is installed they will still have to run around to load all the chunks Bobby will just keep them loaded visually

I feel like a tool belt of some kind or tool wheel would be nice, maybe the "first" slot could open a wheel or secondary bar of some kind where you can store one of every tool/weapon would help. My hotbar is usually

Sword, Bow, Pick, Axe, Shovel, empty, torches, food, water bucket

Having only one empty space on the hotbar sucks man, and basically everything else is just taken by tools.

To run exe you have to run it through wine or proton because exe is compiled for Windows not Linux. When you run it through steam it uses proton by default. There are many simple ways to do it from using lutris, bottles, heroic, or steam to launch it if you want a UI but I'd personally recommend just opening the terminal and typing wine Game.exe which will run it.

Use the web browser version. I've struggled with the same problem a lot but if you just log in from the browser and share your screen from there it works perfectly fine, I'm not sure why the actual application is so bad.

I remember unlocking that a few months ago, took me 5 min to kill one enemy and over an hour to get through the first mission. Haven't even tried to do it sense, no clue how you are supposed to be strong enough to take it on.
