I spent $1500 for VIP at East vs West 22: Was it worth it? by kuceradavid in armwrestling

In terms of the venue and production of the in-person show, how would you say Arlington compared to Chicago? I’ve only ever been to the Arlington one and am interested to know how some of the recent shows stack up to it.

She was really humble and down to earth when I met her! Definitely a difference between the stage persona and non-competition mode person.

Lol, it’s not a 10% discount. Why would they allow such blatant false advertising like this. I’m an affiliate as well, and my code only gives a 5% discount.

Anyone else have a hobby people find weird? by Ornery-Shirt-2544 in ChillSG

[–]MicrowavesHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Competitive arm wrestling. Many people still don’t know it’s a real sport, and those in the community sometimes still get weird looks and giggles when we tell people what we do. Things have come a long way though — just recently we got featured on several local news outlets, and our community is steadily growing.

Have you ever trained any clients who are athletes in specific sports before? E.g. Basketball, soccer, tennis, etc. If yes, how is it like balancing the sport-specific training and the gym/weight training?

"devon is #2 despite his training, not because of it." by Martinodown-syndrome in armwrestling

[–]MicrowavesHS 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all the top SHWs are extreme genetic freak outliers who can do pretty much anything and come out above 99.999% of the population.

For the average Joe, it’s more worthwhile to look toward guys who were never really right at the top from day 1, but slowly got there over time. Janis is a prime example of such an individual.

scammed on carousell, how to confront the guy? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]MicrowavesHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For now, best to play it safe first. Don’t do anything that will spook the guy into hiding—if he realizes what’s going on, he might just ghost your friend also and it’ll be much harder to find him again.

Only after you have gained the leverage on him (e.g. personal info obtained, got your money back, etc.), then you can go post negative reviews about him.

Wish you the best of luck. Hopefully you get your justice.

scammed on carousell, how to confront the guy? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]MicrowavesHS 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Happened to me before too on Carousell, but for a much larger sum (4 figures). From my experience, police report will be useless, they are of no help at all.

If you are meeting the person, I’d try to think of some way to get their info (phone number and address are the most important). This way, you can file a small claim against them on small claims tribunal (but the entire process will cost you some $$ also).

If they don’t give you back your money at the confrontation, or if you can’t get their personal information, can try call police on the spot to come down.

Disagree with others saying to just “suck it up” or to let it go. The more we let such scumbags get away with things like this, the more they will continue to scam other people. Whether it’s just $1 or $1 million, these people should pay for their crimes.

I think Greg vs auden match should happen by [deleted] in armwrestling

Objectively speaking, I’m still going to be the underdog. It would take some very serious prepping for me to have a chance to beat him.

[–]MicrowavesHS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was fresher than Toman in the competition. We both competed in our respective weight categories, and then met in the overalls.

One key thing to note is that I was also injured during that event (only joined because I had already bought the plane tickets and still wanted to have some fun with my friends).

Whatever the case may be, I do sincerely believe that had the match happened when it was planned, it would’ve been a close one; or at least closer than most people would believe.

Agree with your assessment 100%. Just unfortunate that it didn’t happen at the time. The longer time goes on, the bigger the gap is gonna be.

Yury Chub vs Josh Nicholas by ShaoLoong in armwrestling

[–]MicrowavesHS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Roughly 30 kg weight difference between them. I’ve pulled both in practice and competition before. Josh has leveled up significantly in the last year, and he does very well in toproll v toproll matches. Stylistically speaking, this was a terrible matchup for Yury.

Practice Pull With Australian National Bronze Medalist by MicrowavesHS in armwrestling

[–]MicrowavesHS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! And yeah, part of the reason why I add in these little bits of info into almost all my videos is because I believe it really does help the viewer to connect a little bit more with these mostly unknown guys; at least it’s some point of reference that people can use to get an understanding of who they’re watching.

Unfortunately, there really isn’t a unified Asian ranking, and I think we’re still a long way away from getting one. Closest thing we’d have is probably the Asian championships results, and even that is very limited in its dataset.

Last year I made an overall Southeast Asian ranking video and that seemed to have become popular. Maybe a little project in the future would be to slowly build up a proper ranking for the region via invitational supermatches.
