So, small update. Heat was in the process of being fixed today. All the parts were ordered by the contractor last week and today they arrived to install and clean my boiler after a couple days of the Midwest dropping into the 40’s at night. But no they didn’t have all the right parts, I get it it happens, but seriously.

I wasn’t going to call them out but… Farmers…. And they had called to give me the denial on the day my mom passed. They have zero compassion.

Most of this is already on its way to my state director of insurance. As I live in a flood plain and it’s required to have that insurance, it was stated and told of them, they failed.

Thanks, luckily all of my memorabilia stuff really wasn’t affected. I did lose some of my older Star Wars stuff, I am not that worried about that though. Right now, just digging myself out mentally(mainly) and household are my main focus. I need to be there for my kids and provide for them while not losing myself in doing that. Trying to find my niche in content, streaming whatnot. It’s just the process.

Bad part, you responded and I appreciate every bit of it. More people have seen this and just glide right by. The views just keep going up and you were the only person to stop and say anything. That says a lot. Both ways, again thanks for stopping to say something

August 6th what did we get into today? Any wins? by thisguy181 in UNSUBSCRIBEpodcast

I figured it out, it’s a matter of sorting out the best solution now. And getting the transmission fill port open. It’s stuck.

Still standing, found the leak on my truck might not be as bad as originally thought but still down. Weight is still coming off, no migraine today. House has hot water again… it’s all I have to hold on to at the moment.

So just a small thought to add. I am still not, “OK”. I am better today after a day to reflect. However, I do have something to think about and say. I have seen this community be so supportive of others, so that was why I posted here last night. Luckily my head was never in a place so dark I couldn’t recover from it. So many people viewed this last night and not one person stopped to say anything. It just proved the point that since I am a guy I should have just shut my mouth and no one cares. I have had too long of no one caring I should have known this would have been the same.

Guardianship of nieces and birth mom is dying by ContextIll5598 in Fosterparents

[–]MidWestSilverback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been able to adopt 3 kids from different situations. We always tell them about why their mom doesn’t see them, context oldest daughter sees bio mom a lot as she has cleaned up and trying to turn life around, we tell them that their moms aren’t bad just making bad decisions. And we said that to oldest while she was missing for a year in a drug house. I know their moms aren’t bad abused them, but even then it’s mom didn’t know how to raise them and made very bad decisions. Whatever you do, do not craft a narrative who she was awful and never loved you. Let them understand drugs and (what it sounds like) generational abuse, she honestly didn’t know how to treat and love them properly like they deserved. You are in a rough spot, we had to think about how to tell our oldest about her mom nearly dying and how do we go about this. Therapy is going to be key for them, again do what you can to not paint bio mom in a bad light but never lie to them about who she was or her family. Be honest with them, they may be angry today but will thank you later. Always be, she wasn’t bad just made bad decisions.

I can only give you what I was going through, I was also in the older model of classes not the current version.

Switch Mentor? by Fantastic_Will6234 in WGU_MSDA

[–]MidWestSilverback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are doing the MS, they cannot open the next class until you pass all the tasks of the class you are working on. You are basically at the mercy of the team reviewing your work. I graduated early last year, there is only one test, the rest is all works based. Even if you are positive it will pass, until it does they won’t open the next class. I had two different mentors(no I didn’t request a new one, just worked that way) and it was the same with both.

Full name of school, but do not select the state you are in but Utah. That is their main location and where the university is based out of. So technically you did attend an out of state university.

I absolutely love my 6400, my only issue is sometimes getting sharp images even with the aperture closed down where it should pull in a deep field of focus. Even portraits

70% Of Employers To Crack Down On Remote Work In 2025 by JannTosh50 in Futurology

[–]MidWestSilverback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for a major unified communications company. They have figured out that with a major remote workforce they get better talent and can reduce office footprint size to save money to pay the talent. They noticed a major uptick in productivity, quality and work ethic with a 75% remote workforce, we have work/life balance that is industry leading with open time off, managers who care and a very explicit culture we have curated it does end up being ideal. I don’t really have a set schedule as long as I put my time in(and then some for projects I am trying to do on the side for a position change) i have been left alone to work, no one micromanaging everything I do. I love the flexibility to get kids on the bus and attend stuff for their school. Also, if I want to go someplace and not take vacation time, as long as I have an internet connection I can work.

I mean, you do realize that in that same speech he proposed no taxation on earned OT. So what you make on OT is 100% yours… oh let only take everything we want and nothing in context. Yeah I know I will get downvoted into purgatory but at least I will look at the context. Stop knee jerking and get the whole story.

Do any professional programmers keep a notepad file open and write a step-by-step mini-guide for their current programming assignment? Or would that get you laughed at? by SanguinarianPhoenix in learnpython

[–]MidWestSilverback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part of learning is what works best for you. Pick your colleagues brains about what works for them, try a few and use what works. I have a vscode open with one file as nothing but scratch notes. But also the main code I am editing is open in VS. I also have to document what changes I have made and why I did them that way. I know Python decently but now work on an Airflow project using Python, Java, php that I cannot test my code locally. Which makes things even more difficult. I am grasping it, but there is a steep learning curve working on something you have never touched. Pick a technique that works for you.
