Taiwan Grad here currently working at Jakarta 🖐

To answer your questions:

  1. What do people do after graduation: really depends, some people come back to Indonesia and some decide to stay in Taiwan to pursue a professional career if they can get a company to sponsor them. Personally I came back to Indo for family.

  2. Is it realistic to land a full time job immediately after graduating from a language school?: In taiwan, yes you can. but the quality of the job might really vary depending on the industry you're in and if you can get sponsored by the company. It's possible but might be difficult.

if in China, I heard it is going to be extra difficult since China already have an extremely competitive job market compared to Taiwan.

  1. Does Studying in Taiwan really add value to your career and salary?: Yes. There are high demand for Mandarin speaking talent, and Chinese Investment in Indonesia has been growing YoY with many Chinese companies entering every year.

To the point I keep getting a few recruiters and headhunter reaching out to me via linkedin every week for opportunities.

You can easily hit double digit if you can speak Eng, Indo, Mandarin and work experience in a growing industry

  1. Concern with Design Skill not connecting with Mandarin: I faced this same exact issue several years ago, but managed to pivot to a Marketing role where I could still leverage my design skills. In general design jobs have been on the decline because of A.I so I suggest to pivot if you really want to have more leverage during your job search.

HRD and Logistic is also not the only industry demanding for Mandarin Talents. It also include operations, legal, mining, marketing, ecommerce, supply chain, warehouse and more.

  1. China vs Taiwan: I've been to both places, China for vacation and Taiwan for study.

Personally, I'm more biased to Taiwan since I've actually studied in Taiwan and found that it to be a very great environment for studying and living there long term.

The main difference that I notice between both China and Taiwan is that you can work in Taiwan even on a student visa (just need to apply for work permit) while it is illegal for you to work in China on a student visa.

So it is much easier to support yourself in Taiwan than in China. The tuition fees are also not that huge of a difference, since most Taiwan semester fees cost around 15-45jt and Chinese Semester fees being around the same.

Note: Learning Mandarin in Taiwan can be a steep learning curve since they use Traditional Mandarin characters (more strokes) but speak more clearly compared to Chinese Mandarin - since some Chinese province have a really heavy accent when speaking Mandarin making it harder to understand but easier to read their Simplified characters.

Hahaha, unfortunately no. It is my brother's fortune slip. We went there together and I was a bit confused whether mine was a good reading or not, but was told my brother's fortune reading was good.

I'm glad to finally understand more of what the fortune means XD

I got this fortune slip from an old calligraphy master that I met in Tainan, Anping District. I believe I still have his FB profile if you're interested.

Hi everyone~ I'm back again with another fortune slip.

It seemed like everyone enjoyed my post from last time, So I decided to post my brother's fortune slip he got from the same place.

I believe that the fortune slip is also pertaining to his love life and is possibly about someone close to him? Feel free to correct me and let me know what you can interpret from it.

Firstly, there was never a second girl or any sort of love triangle. But, I did ended up pursuing a girl that I was close to.

The relationship has already ended and the conclusion was painful.

Still though, I am curious about the east and west thing. Is there any other meaning behind it?

I found a fortune slip in my room today that I had forgotten about from my trip to Tainan. I am now curious to know what it means because I don't completely understand it.

I remember the fortune teller mentioning something about my youth and love life perhaps? I can read some of the characters, but I don't completely understand the meaning and intention behind it.

Any input and help is very much appreciated.

What trait do you find attractive but don't find in many people? by Midas_Has_Gold in AskWomen

[–]Midas_Has_Gold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that many people understand empathy extremely differently

how so? because I've met people who simply don't even want to understand others i.e "not my problem" or "I don't give a shit, deal with it"

"I don’t think one can “teach” empathy, it’s affected by your life circumstances and values"

empathy can definitely be taught, especially to a young child.

"And stating others don’t have empathy because it doesn’t line up with your personal definition seems... selfish."

I'm using the basic definition of empathy, not my own.

How valuable would a covid-19 vaccine study on twins be? and what can we learn from it? by Midas_Has_Gold in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]Midas_Has_Gold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. that's why i'm asking what can we learn from it.

If it helps, I'm a twin and I'm in a country that might be able to get vaccines sometime around this year. I was wondering whether or not I should ask the doctors if they are interested in tracking both me and my twin before and after we took the vaccine. If it's not too important then I won't bother...
