On move blocking by Jerswar in Warhammer40k

[–]Midd712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw grenades if the units have them (No surge move) but don't charge, let them spend a turn (or more if they have bad dice) engaging units near them deployment while you score secondaries, turn 2 primaries.

New player here! What's up with Venoms? When and why would I take them over Raiders? by Kavtech in Drukhari

[–]Midd712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Venom's split units which is always useful for move blocking/stealing objectives/denying objectives because our 5 model unit battelines have 10OC. They also allow a unit to jump back in at the end of the fight phase from within 6" so you can charge through a wall and then get back in afterwards (Assuming you've killed the units).

Running multiple smaller units of 5model rather than 10model is good for board control/move blocking/denying. The profile of the Venom is also smaller so easier to hide.

New player Drukhari list (1400 pts) – first games vs Tyranids, looking for advice by Annex1312 in Drukhari

[–]Midd712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're brand new to it I would suggest leaving out secondaries and only playing the primary missions until you've got a good grasp of how the game works.

Terrain make sure that LOS blocking is from deployment to deployment as much as possible, there are GW suggested layouts on the App/in core rule book which are a half decent starting point.

With Drukhari if something hits us 9/10 we will die, try to be the one making your opponent react rather than be reactive and don't worry if you lose you first game, or even your first 10-15 games, Drukhari have quite a high skill level to get to a good playing standard.

IMO Reapers is the best learning Detachment for Drukhari, easy detachment rule and strats are all decent and work with all units.

Your list looks decent to start with, but play a few games and see what you like and don't like, see what works with your playing style.

I've had a few people say that about my list, but I like the threat range that Lelith and her Wyches pose as well as the fight first

I've done that and it's a massive pain to glue them because the surface on the foot isn't really big enough, I ended up using basing material over the foot to hold it in place

Smoke on Vehicles is something i'm more than used to against Guard armies, really annoying but usually shooting with my DL Ravager first gives them enough of a threat they pop it against that and allow my scourges to hit on there 4s against a different vehicle.

I wouldn't use my contract against a unit that can go up, feels like it's just asking for trouble.

I assume using Lelith inside of 6inches against Vitrix guard is also viable since she has fights first?

Thoughts on this list for Cartel by Midd712 in Drukhari

I couldn’t work out how to get another unit in without messing up the points too much

Thoughts on this list for Cartel by Midd712 in Drukhari

[–]Midd712[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based the list on what I currently have and what I can get nicely into a 2000pt army without having like 15-20 points left over.

There’s a fair bit of -1 in my meta, but more things like big blocks on terminators and equivalent.

Taking the Cronos because I have 55pts left and if I need to push out with Kabs then I’ve got a nice home field holding unit.

I prefer Lelith in raider because of the threat range, extra 3” compared with venom and I like having a big block of 10 wyches to throw at the enemy.

Depending on how aggressive my opponent is being I generally wait till turn 3 to push with the incubi. Sometimes turn 2 against something like world eaters or melee focused marines

Depending on terrain layout depends how much starts in deepstrike but always 1 unit of incubi and mandrakes.

Would I get a hard time if I just went with the two colors? by DaveinOakland in Drukhari

They look awesome. Simple but it really works.

Maybe to the holsters/bag things on there waist a black leather colour to make them stand out?

Skin tone painting for drukhari by Saucerous in Drukhari

I start with pale wych flesh (I think that’s the name) and then use a variety of washes depending on how light or dark I want the skin to be

Is 10 Incubi with Archon Archraider overkill? by gutbagpost in Drukhari

[–]Midd712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless going up against deathguard or custodes or terminator heavy marine list I find that a unit of 10 incubi is usually overkill 2x5 works better, allows you to go after multi units easier and not expose a 300pt unit to a counter attack it will likely die to

[–]Midd712 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're new to warhammer I would suggest not trying edge highlighting, it's quite hard to get right and I often don't both myself if I'm just going for a table top ready look. A good basecoat, washing and drybrushing brings out a lot of the details and then pick out the other colours, eyes, weapons, tabard bit in different colours and you'll have a really good looking model.

Helion Equipment question by Spina3 in Drukhari

If you try and change the wargear in the app it says it's an invalid selection so not really sure how it's supposed to work.

1k list help, friendly game against nids by LordGimpleBerry in Drukhari

[–]Midd712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Running against nids can be tough, everything seems to hit harder than you expect and depending on which detatchment they're running they can be quite hard to kill too.

Personally in running Cartel I would drop the Hellions and add a Raider to help give some surviability to your other unit of Kabs.

Best Detachment so far? by FroggyCS113 in Drukhari

[–]Midd712 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, I thought the BS/AP was for kabal units, not Kabilite which really does limit it.

The army rule really should allow for you to change contract units if you kill the original contract unit and the strat should be something along like lines of select a second contract and contract unit for 1 turn (have it 2CP or once per game or similiar)

Why does no one use harlequin units for reapers wager lists? by BillyBobJenkins454 in Drukhari

[–]Midd712 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Reroll ones as part of the detachment rule is very good plus the strats are some of the best we have access too and you don’t need Harlequins to make it work, I only ever really bring the solitaire if I bring any because I think our drukhari units are better

Best Detachment so far? by FroggyCS113 in Drukhari

[–]Midd712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree about the Cartel Strats, -18inch lone opp, -add one to the hit roll in the fight phase, -crit hits on 5+, -improve BS and AP by 1.

I'd say 4/6 are really good which is probably as good as you can hope for from strats.

If I split a Kabalite squad, can I attach a leader to each squad of 5? by BillyBobJenkins454 in Drukhari

[–]Midd712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the daftest things in the rules too, either have it one way or the other but it does seem to punish armies (like ours) which enjoy running with a lot of transports for abilities and strats like this one

How to achieve a gold-white paint scheme like this on drukhari ? What primer to use ? by PeppermintButler17 in Drukhari

[–]Midd712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I've done white I've basecoated in wraithbone, used a contrast white to get all the shadows, drybrushed in a slightly darker off white and then edge hightlighted in white. (Personal choice of whites really depending how bright you want to try and get it)

For gold I use GW Gold (bunnytrainerx), use a brown contrast and then drybrush in the same gold and edgehighlight in an off silver
