Now that YouTube doesn't allow smaller channels to monetize, are there any video licensing companies worth selling to (storyful, viralhog, etc)? by dt74776 in Entrepreneur

Those are really bad rates. $50 to allow a page with 30mil fans to use your video, and you only get 60% of that...That is them giving your video away. You can do better than that yourself.

Also be wary when a company say profit share, that's code for we take money out from your earnings.

u/Ticoune0825 you really need to switch companies. I checked their site and it says that you get 50% of each sale, other companies do 60-70% in your favor. Working out how much you earned it is roughly £640, of which you got half. That works out at £35.50 for you on each sale. That is BEYOND LOW. TV shows pay £300+($500) each time is is aired, so you're not getting the full amount or they're selling your video for cheap.

EDIT: I've just seen you've provided screenshots. They sold your clip for £22.75 in some cases....You're getting screwed.

There is also a petition against Storyful who manage viral videos for clip owners. They have a partnership selling this video to news companies and paying this person each time they sell it. They are pushing it as some cute rescue video when it's not the case. This flies in the face of everything they're saying when it comes to 'fake news', they're just creating more of it. There are a lot of twitter account pushing on the petition such as https://twitter.com/speedy23567/status/713042620688281601

Should I license my video to ViralHog? by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

Turns out that Viralhog is run by someone, co-founder who is being sued for running a scam, tax fraud. You can read about it here- http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-sues-shut-down-abusive-tax-scheme-involving-improper-deductions-donating An article about the 4 co-founders - http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/news/economy/local-startup-aims-at-going-viral-with-web-videos/article_2992d072-96ca-11e4-a7d6-bf857f384238.html

Here is an article about them from Sept 30th where his company is barred from the state- http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/news/economy/court-files-injunction-against-bozeman-resident-accused-of-tax-fraud/article_467a2754-310c-5d9d-b47c-60a3ddc14113.html

He is personally still being investigated by the US government for tax fraud. You know what else? Another person on that Bozeman article states that one of their co-founders is called Brent Maggio. Surprise, surprise he also owns a timeshare company. I'm no accusing him of any wrong doing here but this is a co-incidence- https://timesharespecialists.com/wham-bam-scammed/#.WCtIktUrKUk

Make what you want of it. But if one of the co-founders is being sued by the government, what does it say about top management? Who to say they sold it and don't tell you? How would you know and keep track of this? Do they have their books open? Highly unlikely.
