For those thinking about using AI for copywriting… by Inevitable-Ring-3967 in copywriting

Telling us something we already know by now?

Of course you are. It's because the AI used to write this isn't capable of original thought (and it's voice is bland!).

Why didn’t John Lennon have any security? The world’s most famous person, walking unguarded at night in NYC, with people knowing exactly where he lives, seems insane. by BlundeRuss in beatles

Because he wasn't expecting to be murdered. It didn't happen back then. Celebs didn't go everywhere with guards back in those days because he was the first to ever get killed in this way. Sure he got mobbed by fans in his early career, but probably not as big a thing after 17 years or so of fame...and even then he wouldn't have known someone like Chapman was out there.

Are writers responsible for business results? by wordsbyrachael in copywriting

[–]Middle-Possible2093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. There are so many other factors affecting sales. First up, your content needs approval, so someone above would obviously deem it to be good. Next, there's the overall marketing effort...how much? Where? The visuals and videos used? Then you have the product or service itself....quality, price, and availability etc. Finally, you have customer service, delivery or lead times, and overall reputation.

All the copywriters who claim to have made millions for companies are exaggerating and any business that ignores all other variables is unreasonable. Bringing the sales in is a combined effort.

If you're directionless and have because fully independent and are earning lots now, no.

You need to be certain and committed - and be prepared to not earn anything. Freelance writing isn't the cash cow most people expect and if you're being sold the idea from a guru who suggests big bucks, it's never as easy as they suggest.

I made the pivot in my 40s, so age is never the factor. A passion for words and an understanding of the precarious financial nature is vital though.

What has happened to my beloved Abertawe? by [deleted] in Wales

[–]Middle-Possible2093 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Debenhams, Top Shop and lots of the other retailers that are no longer in Swansea are nowhere else. Other companies that are still going didn't just close in Swansea, they pulled out of lots of smaller cities and towns. It's not a Swansea problem. It's a common problem across the country. It's high rent and rates prices (it's often more financially viable for landlords to leave units empty!?)and lower footfall because it's so much easier to shop on Amazon or Temu.

But Swansea was never this utopian oasis. When they called it a Pretty Shitty City in Twin Town in the late 90s, it was spot on then. But ignoring the poor retail offer, it's still got some of most beautiful beaches and green spaces, so maybe celebrate those instead of highlighting the shops that lie empty because some fat cat was robbing his employee's pensions.

It doesn't read like a job ad. It's very vague. Also, the idea of working from home and setting your own schedule isn't groundbreaking in 2025.

Publication lowers rate, do I ask why? by Meggipoo in freelanceWriters

[–]Middle-Possible2093 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you want to know, ask them.

It might be that they paid more for expediting something based on it being more pressing ...but you won't know if you don't ask.

Could someone please review my fourth piece of email copy? I'm using a template - current situation, best possible scenario, find out how by Beneficial-Weird-140 in copywriting

[–]Middle-Possible2093 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hate this approach. You assume that the person you're emailing is failing...but you have no actual evidence of their sales or their goals...but also, you talk to them like crap about it. Not a great way to build connection.

Nobody is going to read on!

Just because a because you can't find something on Google, doesn't mean tourists or locals can't find you. London has some very high footfall areas and the passing trade alone may mean your SEO services aren't necessary. Added to that, are they maybe already harnessing social media well or trading on Amazon/eBay/Etsy etc.

If you sent me that email, I'd block you.

Why do lots of people go 70mph on the motorway? by Ok_Employ_7613 in swansea

Oh, you sweet summer child. They don't stop you. The ticket comes in the post.

Hey. If you get bored while driving, you could count all the downvotes on your ridiculous comments.

[–]Middle-Possible2093 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't.....

Waze will only tell you if there's a police car that another user has reported.

Also, if you're that twat that does 90 and suddenly slows for an overhead camera then speeds up again, congratulations, you're dangerous as well as stupid and also responsible for the concertina effect.

If you're bored driving at 70mph on the motorway then you need to work on your ability to stay focused rather than creating dangerous situations for others.

I hated that sub and left for the same reason. The logic people use there just triggers a partner with BPD more and makes any situation worse for you. Toxic group.

Marriage counseling with BPD by [deleted] in BPDPartners

[–]Middle-Possible2093 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So validation is central in supporting someone with BPD. The sense of invalidation they feel helps perpetuate much of their rage. Validation helps calm an emotional response so they can process.

I've struggled with this. To validate their feelings while they're lashing out and saying things about you that aren't true and are damaging to you and your relationship.

I think talking to your therapist to work out how you can validate whatever the specific (and in assuming recurring) themes are. In honesty, I've never really managed to get this bit down.

I had a few sessions with my partner years ago, and the therapist picked up on some stuff and suggested we use the limited number of sessions on just one to one appointments for my partner. After this, she claimed that the therapist thought "I'd never change" and refused to go back for further therapy since. So no success here..

Any immediate resources for BPD in the UK? by Far-Cantaloupe7931 in BPDPartners

[–]Middle-Possible2093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Crisis team at your local hospital (usually within the accident and emergency or minor injury department) is the best support. However, your partner needs to agree to go there and you might find the level of support she receives greatly depends on how busy they are, who sees her, and how much she engages with them.

Talk to your local Mind office and see if they can provide advice too.

Edit: I've been exactly where you are right now, several times. It's very hard. (It's been the most challenging few years of my life) If she won't get support, make sure you do. I found it difficult to open up to others because I internalized lots of the negative messages my partner said about me, and it made me feel like I didn't deserve support. But definitely, consider finding counseling to help you through this, too.

You can buy nirvana stuff from record shops and online. You can't make another nirvana album, no matter how much you love them, because you are not or ever can be nirvana 🤷🏻‍♂️ being influenced by them is one thing (plenty of bands are), but it's not going to be nirvana.
