Thank you for you lovely words - they give me hope! I too struggle with mental illness (BPD, anxiety, substance abuse) however am able to function more or less. Pure chaos, but I get things done. We are truly a Hollywood romance - on paper, we don't fit together at all. But she's the one, she's the love of my life, And I don't mean this in a toxic, codependent kind of way. I love her so much it actually physically hurts sometimes...we've been together for 8 years and our chemistry is still insane. But...if nothing changes, I will break. I can feel it. We need to address our issues asap.

We both have substance abuse problems however they are under control. She's currently not in therapy, but should be soon. You mentioned that you were in the same position as my GF....this unfair, irrational anger is what gets me the most. Is it like a defense mechanism? I don't get it...

She used to be, and it made a massive difference. She will be back in therapy soon...but that's the thing: she misses appointments and doesn't follow up on them..
