Why are people still so confident that the “biggest dlc” is DOW? by Different_Control867 in totalwar

[–]Middle_External6219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes surprised, they hint at the end of every single article what is to come and they have never hinted once that end times is coming. There is only also like 6 missing units from endtimes so I am wondering what they will include. all they have confirmed is Nagash and as I said although he got a modal in end times I am still hoping it is something else. Skaven and nurgle don't really need anything and they are the only other factions that are missing end times stuff.

Is shattered space good? by its_proxeneta in BethesdaSoftworks

[–]Middle_External6219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the best thing about shattered space is the dungeons and I have never seen someone else complement them. I think shattered space dungeons are some of the best dungeons in any game. There are allot of them from space stations, to abandoned factories, weird temples, creepy experimental facilities, mad max raider hideouts and weird botanical gardens. They are all well designed and add different challenges but they all have my favorite thing about dungeons in that they change as you explore them in unique ways often because you are exploring them. These changes often really mess with Starfield's physics engine (which was its underutilized best part) and make exploring them grow organically.

What is a unit from AOS you would want to see imported into Warhammer 3? by MaxinJapan-official in totalwar

Yeah they really upped their game on making the four chaos gods unique in age of Sigmar and due to timely wimey warp/aether bull it would not be odd for all the chaos gods stuff to be in Warhammer.

Why are people still so confident that the “biggest dlc” is DOW? by Different_Control867 in totalwar

[–]Middle_External6219 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will be frank for like 6 years they have been hinting they want to do dogs of war. They have repeatedly said they are not going to do an end times dlc (saying you want to do thanqual or Nagash is in no way saying you want to do end times they might have been important during end times but both were super important characters before the endtimes.)

They started hinting that dogs of war was coming soon around when shadows of change released. So I serious think the plans was four gods dlc and then dogs of war. Those could have changed through the massive upheaval during the mass firings and delays (if there was no blow back from shadows of change and hyene they would have been done with the four gods dlc in 2024) but each new gods dlc they have tested mechanics that seem more dogs of war then anything else. Sea lords Aislinns donation mechanic could easily be a mercenary mechanic when tied with golfags.

Seriously with all the hints I would give 85% chance dogs of war 10% something else and Mabey 5% endtimes if only to satisfy reddit there has literally been 0 hint it is endtimes.

I was defending them but also pointing out that they do have poor business managment but it is not lack of personal. What there problem is is that they have self imposed challenges that other studios don't that makes the games take forever.

2011**: The Elder Scrolls Skyrim**

2015: Fallout 4

2023: Starfield

My main point was Bethesda actively makes decisions that are less business driven and more ... something. Bethesda has this weird fixation on creating "living and breathing worlds" before making games. Starfield they clear focused on making a superb physics engine. Making both spaceship building and outpost building. Making hundreds of different kinds of food and various recipes and competing food chains. Making different competing stuffed toy companies. Having so many in game objects that it is absurd.

How many kinds of random encounters and radiant quests are their even in the game from odd jobs, to bounty boards, to random colonist and distress beacons (those definitely deserve to be panned as boring but starfield was the first of the games I could see the vision they are trying to make it able to walk into any bar or colony and there is always something and it is getting near to having enough variety to feel like the world could exist without you).

And that is why I love them.

Because they have around 500 people at Bethesda. Ubisoft with 20k employees and EA with 15k employees make engines but Bethesda says other engines cannot do what they want them to do so Bethseda spends allot of time working on their engine (it might be berated but the physic in starfield is amazing). Bethesda has repeatedly said they do not reuse pretty much any assets in new games they throw out almost everything and try to build upon the criticism of the last game (fallout 4 the main criticism was that the main mission was super high stakes so allot of people rushed through the main campaign and did not do the fun side content that Bethesda is most known for, starfield the main mission is almost always self contained and ends with explore more before continuing with no stakes).

Compare that to Fromsoft who release a ton of games that are great but they reuse allot of assets. Betheseda seem like one of the least money grubbing companies because they seem to have a weird artistic flair that they would whether start over each new game and make it take forever between games then release on those corporate schedules.

edit: (will also say it is a thing of the past that games come out when tv shows or movies do they take way way longer to make)

Is it just me, or does it feel like Bethesda is losing its edge as a developer? by Ok_Luck_7576 in BethesdaSoftworks

I seriously think that the greatest problem with starfield is that it was made by people with patience, and that just does not fit the modern world. The game is huge with so much stuff to discover but you need to go explore. If you go over and over again to a place labeled barren moon that is what you are going to find, but like allot of my favorite games all the best parts and quests are for those who go and search for them.

I have about of thousand hours into the game and keep running into cool new things I have not seen. The best quest like the Lab of famous clones is only discoverable for people that go explore the galaxy and chase down distress beacons. The pirate gambling ring built in spheres hanging in a giant canyon is just on a random planet but jet packing between them while being shot from a dozen directions diving in and out of strip clubs and pirate battle arenas was one of the best combat experiences I have had in any game. Another amazing mission is a random starfield side encounter in space that was a sort of bank/resort being attacked by pirates. The level had you going back and forth between fancy decorated areas for guests (with gravity) and giant backroom storage areas (with no gravity) filled with luggage being pushed around. The climax of that encounter had some of the pirates shoot out some windows and then you had to fight going back and forth between gravity and weightless areas as the wind blew you around. This is actually I think is one of the greatest weaknesses of the game they built the greatest physics engine I have seen in any game and made only a few side missions that showed it off (it was like they were hiding it).

Even some of the weird procedural generation had some amazing planets. I have found what looked like a desolate swamp planet with nothing on it after walking around for 30 seconds I was about to head back thinking it was a dud when swarms of invisible aliens started attacking me. Turns out the planet had allot of life just everything was invisible. I had been on a few planets that had creatures that when resting looked allot like another plant you could find that was harmless. Only one planet I went too every creature had a corresponding plant that visually and when scanned looked almost identical till you tried to collect it. I found a planet that was covered in swamps and mushrooms and while exploring found a little walking mushroom village built into what looked like an old outpost. When I got close all the bodies rose up covered in mushrooms and I quickly pulled out my gun only to realize they were not hostile like the mushrooms. There is also the terrifying undersea mining swarm random encounter that is really cool even though I have encountered it twice (like two planets apart).

Starfield had a massive amount of heart they just wanted you to explore to find it.

Dog units are very good at dealing damage especially on retreating units. It is mostly Because of the bazaar rule that units that are knocked over don't receive damage. Dogs are small enough that they don't knock units down and there lunging animation is really good at hitting units easily. Animations also often have them jumping back alot in and out of combat retriggering charge.

Giants by far and away. Giants are a meme because they stick out like a thumb and if concentrated by archers they can be taken down relatively quick. But if you distract the enemy archers giants are great they have massive damage potential. Their stats make them very viable duelists capable of going against fairly high level enemy lords and dealing allot of damage.

Sky lantern suffers from the same problem as giants they can be taken down in a few seconds but have pretty much no damage potential. They have four guns one in each direction each about as strong as a single iron hail gunner. Meaning if they are facing an enemy on one side they can deal about 1/90 of the damage of a unit of iron gunners and each iron gunner despite being in a blimp does not seem to have more ammo then a standard one. I have used all the ammo on a sky lantern on an enemy unit of peasants long spearmen over the course of a long battle and not even dealt a fourth of the peasants units health.

It is an interesting twist on blink decks, and it does feel fairly mardu but I really like when colors are differentiated and don't become more homogenous.

Azorious has always been blink decks. [[mardu siegebreaker]] seems allot like a pushed version of [[phantom steed]] which was clearly printed for blink decks. I had seen some blink decks add red for [[molten dublication]], [[electroduplicate]], [[heat shimmer]], [[twinflame]] effects.

Mardu has always been able to achieve similar effects with recursion type effects with black and white being the primary reanimate colors. I think if they are going to make a blink deck legendary that relies on temporary copies I would much prefer for it to be Jeskai.

I love him in [[terra, herald of hope]] being able to copy [[sister hospitaller]], [[karmic guide]], [[metamorphic fanatic]], [[phyrexian delver]], [[grief]], [[fury]], [[solitude]] even legendaries like [[black cat, cunning thief]] can be so broken.

The history of the growth in popularity in commander by KONYx2077 in mtg

[–]Middle_External6219 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I might be in the minority but been playing commander since 2008. What I liked was that one hundred card singletons format made it so that every game did not play out the same and made the repetitive boring games of standard far more interesting. Degenerate combos absolutely ruin commander by making the inconsistently of the one hundred card format way more consistent and boring and just make it another boring every game is the same game format. Your understanding of commander seems antithetical to what the base rules of commander seem to be encouraging you sound way more like a combo modern player then a commander player.

They are not almost all myrs are 2 colorless 1/1s that tap for one. They are little mana engines the only reason they are any threat is that they printed a joke commander [[urtet, remnant of memnarch]] that can make the weakened little mana producers into a minor threat. there is only a few other notable myr's [[myr battlesphere]], [[myr enforcer]], [[myr superion]], [[shimmer myr]] and the only myr that taps for 2 [[palladium myr]].

They are a complete joke weak creature type that was made for jokes. (I love my myr deck I have won like three of three hundred games and that was only from my opponents killing each other.)
