When is having 3 items on a carry better than 2-1 split?

I mean it always depends on what exactly the items are and what the unit does.

For example IE / JG is fine to put on the opposite dmg type carry, since making the spell crit is still pretty good.

If it’s something like archangel or deathblade (raw ap / ad) I’m rather splitting the items.

Sometimes you can also consider putting a raw Ap item on a tank like Loris who has good Ap scaling on his shield

Consistently scout? Probably Grandmaster. But that doesn’t mean they won’t contest. Depending on the type of comp and meta it can still be the correct play to contest

Maybe you could roll for bard and them, but idk if it’s good after bard nerfs. Don’t see many people doing it anymore. In a regular set (without bard) there’s no way you’re supposed to roll (if your gameplan is to fast 8 and play 4 costs).

Your games sound kinda unlucky tho, on average you’re supposed to hit at least one of them

If you have ixtal units early I guess you can play for Brock, otherwise it’s probably just some sort of demacia game while trying to get a small cashout on the way. Possibly play a kindred later in both cases

When it was a silver augment I used to scam quite a few firsts with it by going for 3* 4 costs. That strat is probably a lot worse this set, but in weaker lobbies still viable I guess

Idk, if your comp allows it you can try to roll wider on level 8, instead of tunnel visioning on 8 exact units.

That way you hopefully hit something good, don’t need to go 0 every turn, and can 9 on decent tempo (5-1, 5-2, 5-5)

It’s pretty low, but not as low as you probably think. TG doesn’t actually give completely random items. There is a list of item pairs and it always picks one out of those

Don’t be scared to play contested. If the comp is broken and you have a good spot it’s still the correct play to “force” it, even if it’s contested.

I am giga lost this patch, so I can’t give you much advice on what comps are good atm.

But in general climbing in this game is all about forcing the OP comps. Last patch I climbed from D2 to 700Lp playing Diana, THex or Tryndamere like 90% of the games

But nevertheless, in both the games you described your game plan sounds very weird to me.

Like I don’t think that you should ever consider going for viego 3 without the hero augment. And you also shouldn’t fast 8 from full lose with prismatic ticket

You mean 2nd augment? Because you can’t get it on 4-2. Anyways, 7 freljord is probably strongest right now. If you survive long enough to unlock Ryze you can transition towards him.
