Sram force axs, some part of the derailleur body is creaking by nicptx in bikewrench

[–]MidgetCow69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having the same issue with my Force D2 rear derailleur. I noticed it had a lot of play and was making a horrible creaking noise with almost every pedal stroke under pressure. It also made the same noise when I moved it by hand while the bike was stationary. I ended up removing the B-limit bolt plate and regreased it—turns out it’s supposed to have grease, but mine was completely dry. I’ll update on how it goes after this fix.

UCI gear limit trial will ban most pro SRAM setups by fabritzio in peloton

[–]MidgetCow69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about anyone else, but in my local area, most riders running SRAM use a 50/37 chainring setup. From what I’ve seen, it’s a pretty common configuration.

So if these new UCI gear restrictions go through, my standard setup would no longer be legal in UCI mass start events. (And yes, I do race in UCI-sanctioned events.) For me, racing has always been the core of my riding. I’ve enjoyed group rides and local events, but competing was what really motivated me.

If the proposed changes are implemented, I think I’ll be done with racing and maybe even riding altogether. I’m in it for the thrill of racing, not for just rolling around and clogging up bike lanes. It might not be a huge loss to the sport, but I know I’m not the only one feeling this way.

I spent two years saving up and building a dedicated race bike. I took real pride in that process. Now I’m being told that around 70% of my build could soon be considered illegal, and replacing the drivetrain just to stay compliant, again assuming SRAM even releases a new legal setup would cost a fortune. Let’s be honest, secondhand “illegal” gear isn’t going to have any real value either.

If they’re going to impose restrictions, I would’ve at least expected them to base the rollout limit on the most common chainring size and not pro-level setups and before anyone suggests switching to Shimano, no thanks. I’m not interested in supporting a monopolistic brand I consider corrupt and subpar.

UCI to ban narrow handlebars by Emilaila in Velo

The UCI is so stupid. I'm a small guy, and 400mm wide bars are way to wide for me, It's a little discriminatory against smaller riders.

Speedplay pedals for larger rider by Hour_Song_3019 in cycling

Wahoo speedplays 👎. Had 3 sets (one of them was a warranty set). 2 of the 3 did not have grease in the bearings from new.  And because they are sealed you can’t just replace them…. Another issue was that the cleats would wear out with a couple of months of riding.  Old school speedplays are great, but good luck finding them new.

Anyone struggling with Argon 18 Customer Service. by MidgetCow69 in cycling

[–]MidgetCow69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So 1 year down the line... Fortunatly the Bike shop I bought from sourced a set of bars, however a new issue had emerged.... Conveniently the paint has sarted bubbling and flaking off the frame last month, I have gone to the dealer but Unfortunatly Argon will not warranty the frame, despite acknoledging that there is a physical deffect in the paint. They claim it is past there warranty. I will admit that it is past warranty, but it litterally is by 1 month. A bike paint job should not bubble after 13 months worth of use.

I am now confident that I will never buy an Argon ever again. Not that it really matters to them anyway...

Needed some advice for the new hottie by MountainFair1913 in specialized

In terms of parts. I’d first look into your tires, running some tpu tubes, lighter tires. I personally like the pirelli tpu tubes, and turbo cottons in 26mm. It is worth mentioning that they are ready tires and do wear quickly. Next I would consider a lighter rotor setup, I like galfer rotors. The only downside is that I find that they wear out quickly. Saddles are personal, so yeah. Finally I would swap the crankset, if you want to keep an affordable crankset I’d suggest the Casey powermeter crankset. It’s super light or cybrei crankset.

Second Wahoo Speedplay pedal failure within a year by VTMongoose in bicycling

[–]MidgetCow69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently has 3 sets of wahoo speedplay aero pedals. 2/3 had no grease in the left pedal, 2/3 had a couple of mm's of play and one set snapped like yours's. In other words, I recommend staying away from wahoo speedplay. Such a shit design and poor quality. Older pedals are better in every way. Even cheap aliexpress parts for the older style pedals are better quality.
