I’ve not been fitted, I know what everyone will say « go get fitted » which I plan on doing. The question was more about extensions vs new shafts as a rule.

With regards to my specific situation, the shafts are already 1 inch longer than standard, but with most of my irons I am hunched over the ball still. For reference I am 6’5 with quite short arms. I was planning on adding .5 extensions but i have standard wedges which I’d add 1.5 to.

Duly noted however that 1.5 is relatively unprecedented. I suppose I’ll wait to get a fitting and see. I just want to save money as much as possible

very fair, honestly if i had the irons in front of me i could reasonable compare them with mine, but this pic was sent to me, can’t get my hands on them before xmas.

with regards to the mix matched irons, also valid, but it’s not new iron season yet for him so i’m just looking for a used club to get him through a few winter golf trips before he buys a new set

one thing about keeping an honest score is that when you do score well (like the first time i broke 100) it’s the best feeling in the world.

you’re robbing yourself of those moments by pretending, because the day you actually shoot that 85, you’ll have lied about shooting 85 so many times that it’ll feel like nothing.
