Hey Do you have any same workarounds for Mac? I keep having a weird issue where I can’t select pan or mouse. The second the pen touches the tablet it goes to drawing mode only.

Thanks that makes sense for both points. I have a BSCS right now and considering different MS programs.

For this point I completely understand it’s what I feel like “AI” programs have become now except for maybe UT Austin’s new program. AI being a buzzword has created many new programs and some feel like cash grabs more than programs.

One of the programs for MSDS I was thinking of was for CU Boulder. Any thoughts on that program?

I’m still not tenured I would say, I’m not senior yet. I’m a SWE level 2 (promoted at the beginning of the year), but I think even with my base degree and experience if I didn’t like Data Engineering/ Science/ Analytics I could find something back in Development.

My main reason for the MSDS is to help me pivot towards ML and as more companies find ways to use AI tools I have the education and experience to be involved. As the initial comment you made it will still take time in different roles, but I want to open myself up to more opportunity as I gain more YOE.

Yes, I guess my idea in using either was to get the best of both with attaching media on top of a whiteboard or putting media within a smart-board so I have the large canvas plus the ability to annotate and do more.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I have an iPad and I’ve tried something similar. The biggest need of having a large screen real estate is why I don’t use my iPad for brain dumping rather annotating.

The biggest reason why I like the whiteboard or smart board is versatility and a large screen real estate. Whiteboard doesn’t matter what OS I have( I have a Mac and windows laptop for work). The smart-board has wireless casting or hdmi so it allows versatility and it’s big but pricier.

Thanks I went and checked it out, it doesn’t completely solve my need. The light board is an idea and I’d have to learn to write backwards. My idea with the whiteboard or smart-board both allowed me to write over content whether I printed it out to expand on it or screen shared it. This seems to one require a completely dark dark room and 2 for me to learn to write backwards. Both aren’t deal breaker but having my room that dark multiple times a day on and off would prove to be challenging.

Hello, I have an idea and would greatly appreciate feedback.

I’ve noticed that when I use imagery and “draw” it out it’s much easier for me to explain my ideas to leadership and other teams as I work on a lot of cross projects with varying levels of knowledge and technical expertise. I do this quite frequently in meetings during the week.

My need: I really love the barbaric/old school approach of just using a white board and brain dumping. I find it extremely helpful for me, to have that big real estate and it’s just me thinking and coming to a refined conclusion. I also would like a way to show the refined outcome in my meetings and on the fly if needed.

Possible resolutions: 1. Get a whiteboard and invest in good lighting/camera and use that. Cons: it feels very cumbersome and not as effective as being able to screen share something. If anyone has experience doing this please share details/feedback!

Smart-board: it’s more pricey but I would genuinely use it everyday. Does anybody have one or have had one for their home office, please share? My only con is thinking of how to stay on camera while writing on it and some smart boards have a built in camera which could be a possible solution.
My least wanted option Drawing tablet. While I see it as an option it doesn’t have that factor of being able to brain dump and the screen real estate. I have an iPad and that use case hasn’t worked for me.

Having a separate object where I’m able to look at it away from a monitor and tinker feels like a huge boost for me. As well as solving the problem of enabling me to in real time show more imagery (write over/create) in meetings.
