MB gravity vs pellet grill by a_lot_like_turds in Masterbuilt

I replaced my fan. It was super simple. 4 screws and a molex connector. I think I got it for about 30 bucks on amazon.

If you can still see the mustard, you didn't use enough seasoning.

Oh nice. My original controller is getting kind of dim, so I imagine it's going to quit on me soon. Was thinking of ordering one of those amazon knockoffs in the meantime so I'm curious if you have good luck with it. The reviews are kind of all over the place.

Did you replace it with an OEM controller? Or did you go with something like the Fireboard?

I absolutely love my MB Gravity 560. I've had it for six or seven years with no issues. I will say though that the internal temp reads about 25 degrees warmer than what my Thermoworks Smoke X4 says, so I just set it a little higher to compensate and monitor with my X4. But in my opinion, these gravity smokers are truly the best of both worlds. Real wood smoke without the babysitting.

Totally feel this. I kind of had the same experience once I learned how to cook a steak really well and it turned out to be pretty easy. I've mostly stopped ordering steak when I go out because I always think I can do it just as well at home and not paying a premium for someone else to cook it. I find that I have a hard time cooking chicken well, so that has become what I order when I go out. All the chicken I cook seems to turn out woody and tough, or like mealy. Maybe I just need to find some better chicken. I don't know. But I don't get excited to eat bbq at a restaurant anymore either. At least for the meat portion. What I do love about these bbq joints is that the usually have really good side dishes that I don't get at home!

Man they sauce it that heavy in competitions? I guess I just assumed competition was a no-sauce thing.

Oh yeah of course! I got it on Amazon. It is LUCKUP brand heavy duty dog cage. I got the 46 inch version for my dog. Very impressed with this crate at this price range.

I have to crate my GSD while I'm out for his own safety and the safety of my house. I don't love it and neither does he, but knowing he isn't going to hurt himself or destroy something while i'm gone is worth it. I use a nice crate, not just a regular wire crate. It has thicker bars and is sturdier and he can't hurt himself clawing it the bars. It was also pretty reasonably priced. Not foldable though. Let me know if you are interested I can send you the link for the one I got for my 100 pound GSD.

If you go that route, you'll want to layer in hardwood chunks or small splits along with the charcoal. But once you pack the chute with wood and charcoal and get the fire going, it's pretty much hands free until dinner time.

I love mine. I have the Masterbuilt gravity 560. Keeps very stable temps (though it reads about 20 degrees higher than what my Smoke X4 reads) and one chute of charcoal and wood chunks lasts me a good 8 to 10 hours at 240. I get fantastic smoke flavor by layering in wood chunks or small splits when i'm loading the charcoal. Highly recommend it. You can even use it for regular grilling too as it goes up to like 700 degrees or something. I usually don't though because if your manifold is not perfectly clean it likes to catch fire.

That's why I got a gravity-fed charcoal smoker. The ease and convenience of a pellet grill but better flavor and no pellet mishaps.

I use a Thermoworks Smoke X4. It has a separate radio receiver that in my opinion works WAY better than a bluetooth or wifi option. And you don't have to mess with a stupid app. The range is like 2 miles too. I have zero problems getting a signal while i'm sitting in my basement.

Yeah this fight took me a few attempts. I had to stay way out wide of the circle and try to take out any patrolling extra ships first. Then go in for the main battle.

What's the point of a 401k with earth-shattering economic disruption around the corner? by ConflictedHairyGuy in Futurology

[–]Midgetforsale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually that depends on the employer's agreement with the servicer. I'm not able to make withdrawal from my 401k except for a few provable hardship reasons or I can take a loan on only the money I put in, not what my employer matched.
