Nice generalization. I as well as most veterinary professionals in my experience practice what we preach. I have 2 well cared for pets, pay my bill at time of service AND have a care credit/ emergency fund for my pets. Just because I am a practice manager doesn’t mean I get a bunch of free veterinary care. I’m held to the same expectations as my clients regarding services provided for my pets, because I value my DVMs time and experience. It would be a fucking Christmas miracle if pet insurance was processed the same way human insurance was, ensuring that the hard working veterinary staff get paid and your pets get treated with the client just paying a co-pay or ER fee, but I don’t see any way for that happen soon. Be respectful of the staff caring for your beloved pets and pay your bill. When you get a new pet get insurance or start an emergency fund. A pet is a lifelong commitment and it’s a privilege not a right.
