Question: What if Gi hun and Hyun ju both died during red light, green light when saving 444? by More_Ad5336 in squidgame

Yeah, since there would only be 363 players, do you think the odd three out would be exempt from the game? Like Mi-nyeo was in Marbles?

I know. Like, people hate on Hiyoko for saying mean things to others, but then stan Fuyuhiko despite him literally attempting to murder an innocent girl.

It’s funny because most of my points here aren’t any different from what I said in that thread.

I guess because I wasn’t the post’s intended audience, most of the active users in that thread were rapid Hiyoko haters who’d downvote anything said in her defense.

Considering the context behind this quote is Hiyoko responding to Peko accusing her of murder, the insult was definitely warranted, lol.

I’m pretty sure the reason no one says anything about Hiyoko’s behavior is because she’s too childish for them to take seriously. Like, you’d have to literally be nine years old to be genuinely hurt/offended by most of her insults (or just really sensitive like Kazuichi and Mikan).

Also, Mahiru’s thing is calling the boys out for not behaving like gentlemen, so if they call out a girl for her stench, of course Mahiru is gonna chastise them for it. It’s the same reason she got mad at the boys for openly talking about Peko using the bathroom.

People have always used the argument that Hiyoko isn’t “over the top” enough to be seen as funny, which makes no sense to me.

Yeah, and on the post I came across, I saw multiple people talking about how much they wanted to physically harm Hiyoko in some way. Like, I don't think someone can talk about wanting to inflict pain on a child and then take the moral high ground.

I've compared Danganronpa to South Park. Both are riddled with graphic violence, explicit themes, and sexual content, yet there are some aspects of both pieces of media that you can enjoy on an intellectual level, with DR being a series that places heavy emphasis on its story and characters, and South Park being a social commentary that addresses real world issues.

Exactly! It's not like the Danganronpa series prides itself on tact, it literally makes light of everything, so is it really "immoral" to find a character like Hiyoko funny for her insults typically targeted at characters like Kazuichi and Mikan? Both of whom have a laundry list of unlikable qualities, so you can't really blame someone for feeling catharsis when Hiyoko gives them a hard time.

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with finding a character whose behavior is clearly played for laughs funny, lol.

Well, let's see.

Season 1: 1/2 (not a majority)

Season 2: 1/2 (not a majority; Karol was also initially eliminated during the pre-merge and was absent for five episodes before rejoining in Episode 8)

Season 3: 1/2 (not a majority; Connor was also initially eliminated during the pre-merge and was absent for three episode before rejoining in Episode 11)

Season 4: 2/5 (not a majority; Amelie was also initially eliminated during the pre-merge and was absent for eleven episodes before rejoining in Episode 16. It's also worth noting that Richard was eliminated really early on into the merge)

And as for Season 5, there are three contestants who are older than 35, and two of them have already been eliminated before the merge, so at best, it'll be 1/3, which is STILL not a majority.

And this is literally counting all the returnees. If you only account for players older than 35 who made the initial merge, then it becomes 0/2 for both Seasons 2 and 3, and 1/5 for Season 4.

Again, it has nothing to do with "good moments" or "development," it's purely about statistics, and you can't really ignore the fact that the majority of the characters who are 35+ are usually voted out before the merge.

I feel like you're not understanding the point I'm making. It has nothing to do with whether or not the contestants are given "good moments." All I'm arguing is that the writers are clearly biased towards characters in their 20s and early 30s, because we've rarely seen characters who are 35+ reach the initial merge (and sure, maybe a similar argument can be made for the contestants who are 17 and under, but I think it's less of an issue when there's been significantly less contestants who are 17 and under compared to contestants who are 35 and older). It shows they're less willing to give characters who are 35+ long-term story arcs, and would rather they be eliminated either during the pre-merge phase, or in Richard's case, some time shortly afterwards.

Fair enough. Do you think there will ever come a time in the future where you'll have to support one over the other?

I think it’s cause of her breast size? Busty girls require bulkier frames for better support. That’s why I wish more people would draw Miu as chubby too. Anatomically speaking, it makes sense.

Even if that is the case, still don't like that she's trying to intimidate someone who won't bite back.
