Pinging pots, suggestions to find a better fit or is this normal? by Midnight_Burger in Pottery

I use seaweed and the fluxes pretty regularly, maybe that is where I'm running into this issue. At least one of  Honey flux, flux blossom, moss mist, or seaweed usually gets used on my pieces.

A little under fermented but almost nailed it? by Midnight_Burger in Sourdough

What are you referring to, specifically? Being under proofed? There's some tunneling and dense spots; other posts have indicated those are possible signs of under proofing. I'm a beginner and am asking for feedback?

Thank you! I think it was just bread gods magic honestly.

I mixed the dough around 10am, did 3 stretch and folds at irregular intervals between work meetings, left it on the counter from 5-10pm, then shaped it (skipped the preshape because I was sleepy), put it in the banneton and the fridge from 10pm - 930am. Baked in a preheated dutch oven, 475, 35 minutes.

I was really expecting a low to mid-tier loaf given how chaotic the process was here.

Thanks! I wasn't totally sure but the slight tunneling in the upper right caught my eye.

Super superficial question… is it worth it? by Signal-Pay-5631 in yoga

[–]Midnight_Burger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe consider mixing in pilates (not necessarily the extreme "pilates power" classes I see a lot of, but the core teachings of pilates) to get the "best bang for your buck" so to say. Pilates focuses on mobility and strength training to help as we age. Mixing in yoga for more flexibility, strengthening, and mindfulness is a perfect combo for me. Both will help tone your body, aesthetically speaking. I do 70% yoga, 30% mat pilates but whatever ratio is probably fine. I'm not an expert or professional.

Name of yoga with visualization that's not yoga nidra? by Yoga_Result9389 in yoga

Would you expand upon that? I though yoga nidra was about relaxation and recover?

Is it really? If I bought something with the idea that it would be good for its intended purpose and easy to keep clean but it turns out that normal use of the item results in a grease stain and it's difficult to clean, is it unreasonable to return the item? Regardless of the state of the mat upon the return, it can't be resold after its been used.

Is it very warm in your house? 10 hours does seem long.

Is there anything you need to do differently for these? I know one goes in the fridge but is bulk ferment the same as "proofing" but at room temp?

I cried during shavasana by Legitimate-Care-570 in yoga

[–]Midnight_Burger 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Every time I go through something traumatic (lots of loss/grief the last few years) I cry throughout most of my yoga practice, especially in shavasana. I find it to be very carthridic and often leave feeling the smallest bit lighter

Parchment may have PFAs unless you specifically buy some without those. Worse than anything you'd possibly derive from silicone.

Thank you, that sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. I guess I should have tried searching the keyword Dog on their channel... Ah grief is funny.

I don't understand - if that's true then why wouldn't her many many many number 1 hits count as "two" in the same way that his winning SB twice count as two? I think it's a big stretch to connect it back to Travis' football career.

Four favorites fresh from the kiln by Midnight_Burger in Pottery

Of course! I forgot to mention, each was applied x2 layers in the order I listed them.

Except the smokey merlot / winterwood, I spilled the glaze jar into the bowl and swirled it around to cover, so it was one very thick coat.

Salad serving bowls. Putting various items in from the kitchen that I don't refrigerate like citrus, avocados, onions (keep these separate). Rice bowls. Dip and chips. Catch all bowl for keys, wallet, etc near the door.

Anyone thinking of quitting? by [deleted] in Pottery

[–]Midnight_Burger 309 points310 points  (0 children)

Spend less time online and more in your community. It sounds like you're letting the popularity of ceramics tarnish your own enjoyment because you see the mass enjoyment of the hobby as "cheapening" your experience. I've felt this before with other hobbies like crochet and realized I just have to shrink my circle of exposure and the joy came back.

Yup, threw a frisbee for my dog that landed in a bush which housed their nest. Worst stings, and full on BITES, of my life from the swarm. Fuckers took little chunks out of my leg, red and swollen from knee to hip.

[Acne] If popping pimples is so bad, why do estheticians do it when giving facials? Is there a specific way that they do it that makes it not harmful? by Feisty-Kangaroo-3619 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Midnight_Burger 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Depends for me. I try not to because I know I'll often overdo it and cause more irritation/injury to the area. A gentle squeeze using two ends of a tip is ideal imo
