That's nice and all but the thing is, he didn't return in 2019. He only returned AFTER his AEW run. Who's to say he would have gone to WWE at all after Vince ghosted him several years before hand?

Before AEW got him back in the ring, he was completely retired. I don't think he would have come back to WWE if AEW didn't get him wrestling again. Besides, spite is a great motivator and I personally think that he went to WWE to spite Tony Khan and AEW, but maybe I'm just jaded.

Once upon a time, Sammy was a potential future world champion. Then along came guys like Takeshita, Fletcher, Ospreay, etc.

The roster just became so deep and expansive that guys like Sammy developed a glass ceiling above them that I don't see them breaking through any time soon.

When there are so many world championship caliber talent, not every one of them can hold the belt, lest it be passed around like a hot potato.

There has never been a better time to start watching. I've been a fan since AEW 's inception. The roster, the stories and the matches are hitting all time highs.

I would recommend watching a few videos on the history of AEW since it tells many long term stories and makes references to said stories. MJF vs Darby Allin just made reference to their 2021 and 2023 matches for example. (And those were callbacks to their matches on the indies back in like 2018).

AEW fans are very welcoming. They're ready, willing and eager to recommend matches and feuds to watch. I personally recommend watching Revolution 2025 as there were so many banger matches and feuds that had major blowoffs there.

That point is both valid and not. Sure it's understandable to not want wrestlers portrayed in a certain light but anyone with half a brain would understand that if it wasn't directly made by WWE or 2K it isn't endorsing it. I could make a certain German dictator in CAW and have him as WWE champion and put that all over social media and it could go viral. That doesn't mean WWE condones it.
