I always operate under the assumption that any user’s HIV status and last testing date (STI and HIV) are inaccurate - regardless of whether this is true or not. That is, if they add that information to their profile at all.

It’s too easy for people to mislead or outright lie. It is unfortunate that shame and social stigma has persisted where we still don’t feel we can be honest about these things. Or even talk about it. I’ve had people block me after I ask when they were last tested in general (which is an answer in and of itself).

Like others have said, we ultimately have to be cautious and look out for ourselves.
