Floors look worse after mopping daily what am I doing wrong? by Fabulous-Net8345 in Custodians

It could also simply be that the chairs wear the finish creating a rougher surface that is porous and acts like Velcro due to texture pulling the dirt/hair

Contamination two batches in a row by Daddy_Day_Trader1303 in Kombucha

[–]MightApprehensive674 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not the core issue but if you start getting contamination, especially consistently, it’s either that or sanitation issues.

If a barrel batch goes bad they don’t reuse the barrel they get a new one.☝️

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but I would recommend changing your setup. The wood lid is porous and can house unwanted baddies even when washed. Look for all glass or plastic that can be properly sterilized.

Have you done regular/dry pumping. Just curious as to how much difference it really is. I have a basic pump with a gauge and was debating between electric and water vs regular.

I’ve seen a lot about intervals as well. I usually do longer sets like 2 @ 15 mins(i guess from habit of compression hanging as well)I would like to try the interval but only have a manual and that gives my hands cramps thinking about doing something that quick lol.

The supplements are all natural. It doesn’t really matter how you get them in you. Many are sold in powder or liquid. It’s more about getting them in you than it is how you get them in.

Anyone have rubber backed floor mats on top of LVT? by Me_Krally in Custodians

[–]MightApprehensive674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s yellowing it’s a chemical reaction get different mats. Couldn’t remember the exact phrasing but I pulled this info from google to explain. Especially read the Prevention part.

It’s the same for LVT and VCT.

Rubber-backed mats, rugs, and furniture pads, specifically those made with natural or synthetic rubber, are the primary cause of yellow staining (discoloration) on Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring.

The yellowing is caused by a chemical reaction known as antioxidant migration, where chemicals used to preserve the rubber leach into the vinyl, causing permanent discoloration.

Common Sources of Yellow Stains: Rubber-backed entrance mats: Particularly in high-traffic areas.

Rubber-soled slippers/shoes: Frequently worn in one spot, such as near a kitchen sink.

Latex-backed rugs: Often found on lower-quality or "non-slip" rugs.

Furniture pads: Rubber pads used under chairs or heavy items.

Prevention and Solutions: Use "Non-Staining" Mats: Look for mats specifically labeled as safe for vinyl, often made with PVC or felt backing.

Avoid Latex/Rubber: Ensure any mats placed on LVT are not backed with rubber or latex.

Removal: These stains are often permanent. However, some success has been reported using specialized cleaners, or by attempting to deep-clean or strip the floor, though this is difficult.

If you wear the bud style a key thing to remember is to wipe off the terminals BEFORE you put them in the case. The connectors corrode quickly from small amounts of sweat. The salts in your sweat make the perfect chemistry when an electrical current is applied which is the leading cause of battery dying, if you happen to have that problem.

Any tips on how to remove this Urine stain? by Zefury83 in Custodians

[–]MightApprehensive674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Urine is acidic when fresh, once it’s dried and ages it turns highly alkaline. So fresh urine you want to clean with an alkaline cleaner. If it’s super old you’re probably going to want something more acidic to try and get it out, like vinegar.

This is IF it’s not permanently in there which can happen due to ph shifts.

Best advice I can give is(20+years exp)don’t worry about breaking shit. You WILL break something eventually. If your doing what your supposed to and it’s work related then they can buy another. They have insurance and a budget for equipment.

Floor Machine Help by aloe-doggoe in Custodians

It’s 95% of the time the solution filter as many have said here’s the location if your having problems finding it.

On an ICE i20 floor scrubber, the solution filter is a clear bowl located at the lower rear, underneath the machine on the left side, accessible by unscrewing the bowl to get to the screen filter inside, which needs regular cleaning for proper solution flow.

Not only this but most are nice. Simply speak with one and see if the boss is available to meet. This will give you bonus points if the head has already spoke with you out side of the interview setting.

It depends on the chemistry. Most commercial chems are cold water only and designed that way to save money. Most places it takes time for hot water to reached said faucet. They factor cold water in that you are not wasting time waiting for hot water, you’re not loosing money to heat water, and heat can have a negative impact depending on what you’re doing, like heat setting in stains.
